I bet he dies soon. His life has become a total mess and he's lost all of his credibility as an A+ list actor. He's really got nothing to live or get better for at this point.
Thing about Depp is if you read that GQ article (was it Esquire?) he has very little awareness or command of the intricacies of his finances and investments. It's a tangled mess and he is too wack-a-doo on his substances to get a clear look at it so he throws his hands up a lot.
It's a poor strategy.

You know I once loved Depp. Unwilling to be a huge star... went from 21 JUMP STREET to a more indie atypical route with Tim Burton but then came PIRATES and it is has increasingly spiraled. Seems he was a mess behind the scenes for a long time but the cracks in his ability to keep it together, look or be healthy, all split apart with a huge franchise. Seems like there was a shift. That being said, yes I am sure Amber is opportunistic, no doubt, but that doesn't mean he was or is any less abusive or misguided. If blinds would have you believed all his exes (many of whom were or became addicts with risky behaviors) were also similarly tormented by him. Where there is smoke there is fire.
Guy is a douche who tries so hard with every fiber of his being to be cool.
Vicious circle of losing money, spending money on lawyers hoping to reclaim or retain money/moneymaking opportunities. If he loses these iffy cases, he's further sunk.
He's only in his mid 50s, he needs to give up the substances and romanticizing the idea of himself as a modern, artistic "gypsy." The real world doesn't always play along (especially on finances), and the enchanting veil has been removed on too much (whether the full story from Amber is believed or not).
I don't see this as unfixable, but he really needs to sober up and get accountable in all ways.
I think Pirates launched him into unimaginable wealth. Suddenly he was able to buy yachts, Islands and private planes. He was surprised by how much he liked the lifestyle. Once you're been turned onto first class you never want to turn back. I think he thought he was maintaining some type of integrity by failing to take good care of himself and falling apart. He seemed to take pride in smashing his good looks.
If Johnny's going to sue the studio, he better be ready to pee in a cup and have his hair tested. Even when he does show up for filming, they have to feed him lines via an ear piece. Not exactly good facts when you're alleging wrongful termination.
Johnny is simply reaping what he himself has sowed.

@kiki Don't blame Pirates. Depp has been a mess for decades. He's just too old and too damaged to keep the seams together anymore.
I remember one of the first blinds I read on this site was about how he'd dress up as Sparrow and visit children's hospitals. It was his way of saying thank you for saving his son when he got extremely sick. What happened to that Johnny Depp? :(

Can't explain why I'm still rooting for him. Been following him since 21 Jump St. Feel like he's my little brother. Want to see how his law suit with Heard pans out.
The studio also has the insurers to worry about, he/the studio lied about his injury on the last Pirates movie and the set was shut down for a week or more which the insurers paid for. Herd's revelations just put in plain words what everyone on that set knew was the truth. The premiums will be through the roof for any movie he has a main role in from now on.
You are always a sweety GentleBreeze but Johnny has always been drugged to the eyeballs and a sniveling little coward most of his life, he would have probably died 20years ago if he hadn't thrown Anthony Fox under the bus. The Viper room stories are enough to turn you off him for life.

Bizarre how some of you state opinions and speculations as if they were facts? He was with Vanessa Paradis for fourteen years. He only really fell off the wagon when they separated and he hooked up with Amber.
All the women he previously dated have stated that he was never violent with them and he was already an A+ list celebrity before he got the POTC franchise. It was actually Donnie Brasco that gave him big name status. He has been in other films than Tim Burton movies..
He is responsible for his substance issues, that's true, but he is not the monster online shut-ins claim him to be.
