Blind Item #1

Once again, if you are female and sign with the management company of this permanent A list singer, she better not see you as a threat. She signs acts she considers a threat and then makes sure your career ends in a dumpster fire. This duo recently saw that in action first hand.

  3. Morning everyone. Ya Beyonce for sure. Still looking forward to seeing her at Coachella tho.

  4. Although they opened for her on her tour and were just on The Daily Show.

  5. I adore grown-ish, the show that Chloe and Halle are on, and I am over here SHOCKED that they aren't, in fact, twins. Up is down.

  6. +1 josh g. Also, Chloe and Halle's current top two Twitter posts celebrate their new album release and say they are looking foreward to performing at Coachella in a couple weeks.

  7. That is seriously messed up, you're supposed to lift people, especially when you're getting a percentage.

    1. You ever think this guy over at "General Electric" is part of the problem?

  10. I wonder if Madonna was also pulling this back in the '90s when she signed Alannis to Maverick? She was huge and then just kinda done...

  11. i immediately thought of chloe and halle but what career setbacks have they suffered? she put them on tour with her and stuff even, idk

  12. Madge also signed The Prodigy, didn't she? Yeah, one album and done on Maverick. Seems like Maverick only wanted to promote one hit record with a lot of folks - Michelle Branch, too.

  13. I have still yet to hear a single song from Lemonade.

  14. If this blind is attempting to be about Beyonce, it's really inaccurate 'cause Chloe & Halle are constantly booked. Their music isn't exactly mainstream & that's why they don't get that much traction but they're pretty much everywhere, performing on Kimmel & the Daily Show, regular cast members on Grown-ish, performed at the BET Awards & at Beyonce's tour, performing at Coachella this year, Fashion Week regulars especially for Moschino, & unlike other record labels, Bey lets them write & produce ALL their material. They have artistic & creative freedom under her management.

  15. A trick rock acts have been pulling upon their good support acts for decades, insecure f***ers.

  16. @Plot - good call! I forgot about Prodigy and Michelle. Like you said, all one hit/one record wonders.

  17. This happens a lot. U2 did it in Ireland, setting up an "Irish bands only" label that signed many of the top Eire groups, only to tank every single one of them.

There's a book called "The Frontman" by Harry Browne, all about Bono, that deserves reading. What a smug, self-righteous hypocritical jerk.

    Madonna
    Mariah
    Bey

  19. @TLT, me either, except "hold up" and "don't hurt yourself" and of course "formation". tidal exclusives are so fuckin lame. like, i'm not getting tidal. and i'm lazy, so though i like bey, i don't love her enough to put in the effort to listen to the album in other ways. subscription services are taking over, which sucks bc i'm a huge cheapskate and would prefer just to buy the music i like rather than pay a monthly fee for ALL THE MUSIC EVER if i'm not even gonna listen to a lot of it. you can pry my itunes from my cold dead hands

  20. @laganja estranja - Lemonade is on iTunes. This blind is BS. As ELVIS said they are everywhere. It’s not Beyoncé’s fault that people didn’t buy the album.

  21. I just wonder if Jay-Z did anything to Chloe, Halle or both...

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yet Beyoncé had them in her video from the lemonade visual album and has talked them up in the past. Also had them open for her. This one doesn't pass the bs test. Next! Maybe maddona and her label/company ?

  23. poor girls. they probably idolize her too

  24. @DDonna: are you talking about Mother Records, because that isn’t exactly what happened. None, except The Sugarcubes and Bjork (not Irish, btw) achieved large international success, but some did alright for themselves, like The Hothouse Flowers. Others, as fond of them as we may have been, like In Tua Nua, The Black Velvet Band (with Maria Doyle Kennedy), and Engine Alley, they were never going to be huge internationally at the time they rose to prominence. Others, like An Emotional Fish or Golden Hoarde had potential for a wider market - Simon Carmody is still friends with Bono, so he at least doesn’t blame U2 for not realizing that promise - and Gerry Fish is still as fabulous as ever.

  25. Smart, if sick, business strategy.
Corporations do this all the time.

Remember the 100 mpg carburetors and such from the 70s?
Some of them were very real.
Shell Oil bought one of them... end of story.

The world is a harsh place my friends.
You don't have to be harsh.
But you do need to face reality.
