Something that hasn't been discussed very much is this large reality family being shunned by one of their long time political supporters. There has not been a public break, although they are not seen in public together any longer. There is no more mutual admiration. It turns out that when the revelations that shocked the world became public, one thing was hidden. A family member of the politician had spent the night at the home on numerous occasions and was one of the victims. It was agreed to keep it quiet. It was not an agreement that the victim supports, but decided to do what her family thought best.

I'm not in the LEAST surprised by ANY of this. Not this revelation and not any of the stuff that came out about Josh Duggar a while back.

T.W., parents will often put their own child's privacy (and their own), and protection from the trauma of an investigation, ahead of protecting the theoretical children of strangers. Sometimes, as part of a deal, the parents will agree not to press charges, and the molester will write a check and promise very earnestly not to do it again. He may say he's in counseling -- and that may even be true -- so the parents convince themselves it'll be okay.
That's one reason it continues, and can become so widespread in an organization or community that it seems impossible that no one spoke up.

If the victim chooses to protect her abuser, she deserves no sympathy.

I am aware of this. My problem is the blind states the victim wanted justice via the legal system but the family convinced her otherwise. The blind implies this was done for selfish, political reasons.

We don't know the child's age. Depending on where she is developmentally the defense attorney would tear her to shreds on the stand.
If I were a politician I would hire people to convince Duggar to turn himself in and plead guilty.
I'm sure they believe God forgives him, we should too.

Depending on the jurisdiction she has no legal recourse.
