Don’t be naive, posters who feel they have all the answers thinking everybody should just come out, and everything will be birds and willows.
The majority of film profits come from overseas distribution. The reason why movies have so few really good roles for women and also the films are primarily action-oriented is to appeal to audiences in places like Asia and the Middle East. These audiences are repulsed by openly gay performers and would not pay to see their movies. Many of these cultures also want simple stories with a male lead and require any women to remain secondary characters at best. Misogyny rules around the world. Heck, that lovely lady in Iran who removed her hijab on video the other day has just now been sentenced to twenty years in prison. You think Iranians are going to pay for to watch an out gay female lead in a film?
As with everything, follow the money.

It's pretty simple, it's like some actors and actresses are being paid to pretend to be straight. It's not exactly the noble path, but if the tables were turned, you know damn well if someone offered you millions of dollars you'd grab a twink or lipstick lesbian and pretend to smooch for red carpets and photo shoots.

I do believe that alternative filmmakers and independent media can get a strong hold on at least the Western market and make a huge difference, though. They already are; it’s just that what they produce isn’t getting as much advertiser support so the average Joe or Jill isn’t even getting to find out about all the cool material out there that they would love.
It takes WORK to support independent artists, and it’s much easier to just check out whatever Fecesbook or Google places in your news feed. People only have so many hours in the day to take in new media or to find it.

My heart sank when I found out she was cast as the main love interest in the upcoming remake of Dune. This is supposedly meant to be the girl who is so hot she distracts the Messianic bloodthirsty saviour of the Universe.

I had to Google her too a few months ago, Sam. Then I have no idea who 80% of the names mentioned here are. As soon as I see 'reality', 'rapper' or 'athlete' (though I do know a few NFL names) I tune out.
@Flashy, Zendaya is okay, really her face is her only bad feature. I'd say about a 6, yeah a 6 pack and then she'd start seeming attractive.
I see more attractive women every day than half of the "stars," it's no wonder so many celebs got there on their backs since looks and talent were a no-go.
But don't forget she was one of Harvey's girls, wearing his wife's sh!tty dresses and everything. He started venturing outside his usual blonde bimbo stereotype towards the end there, just look at Lana Del Rey.
