This recent big-budget release will not only put you to sleep, but it has been demonstrated that most of the story itself was made up.

i want my 2 hours back! couldn't even watch the whole movie.
I Liked it. Watched the whole thing. Whatevs, who cares if the story is probs fake
It was so bad it's hard to describe it
Artistic license, like in Richard Jewell where they infer the reporter slept with a source to get the story. Just like using all Italians in a movie called The Irishmen.
It was one of Scorsese's best for sure. Long, but kept me interested. Who cares if it's made up I just want decent entertainment! BTW Star Wars is gonna suck, just sayin'
HEY! I f***ing loved the movie, easily the best to come out this year. Joe Pesci killed it.
Didn't even bother to watch, looked boring as hell.
Does the world really need another gangster movie...
Love and compassion will change this planet.
I liked it. Pesci and DeNiro in pajamas sharing a hotel room was worth it.
Proves IMDB is an Industry shill run site with all the high ratings for that drek.
It was a very good movie, with good interpretations, but just the Joe Pesci's one was worthy of some nomination, imo
the movie is called The Irishman, but just one charactere was not italian, so, is not strange that the actors were italian
another award that might deserve is the montage, very good job
and, yes, could have been shorter
my issue with the movie was that while it was a good movie, it was nothing NEW, really: Scorsese has filmed already at least a movie like this, GoodFellas, this was just a more mature (in everyu way) version of that
so, i don't get the hype
I thought the CGI faces looked fake. Much ado about nothing
I admit it was a bit long but I'd give it a solid 8 out of 10.
If you have Amazon they are running LIght Sleeper this month. VERY good script and cast. Walken, Sarrandon, and so much more.
I keep trying to avoid Irishman, even if I know it might put me to sleep which is a good thing.
Also this month on Amazon is MUD which is REALLY REALLY good. Matthew M. in a very small story that keeps you interested. Not formulaic. Don't know why this didn't get any play.
@MJ
They are trying to salvage the old studio model for control and competing against a market that no longer values drama.
There are many reasons beyond financial for doing this.
@ Me
" They are trying to salvage the old studio model for control and competing against a market that no longer values drama." they, who?
I love Joe Pesci, but the C U Next Tuesday, DeNiro, ruins it for me. I lasted 2 hours.. said I would finish later..later never showed up.
Yes it was a bit long and slow, but I liked it. As previous commenter noted, Pesci just killed it. Worth it for his performance alone to me. Hope he wins awards for it.
It was really good. Also it's not a documentary, everyone always took the book with a grain of salt and why would you expect this guy to tell the truth about everything? He was a cold blooded killer. The point of the movie arent the historical details, it's the human story.
It was very slow. I love all of their movies but this one was a let down.
Maybe it's just me.
But, I liked it.
Always thought that Hoff's body was either cremated or put through a wood shredder.
The movie is incredible and it baffles me that people think it was too long or boring. People just don't understand actual cinema anymore. It's the same length as the Godfather II so I guess all of you hate that too. It's in my top 10 all time favorite movies now. Pacino is coming for the Oscar.
De Niro is of Irish and Italian descent on his father's side.
Joe Pesci was amazing. Some parts were distracting. Using elderly actors in some of the walking or active scenes took me out of the story telling. You can de-age a face but not how a older body walks or throws a punch. Scorscese was smart to make most of the movie with the actors either sitting, driving, or standing. I like the movie. Whether they got how Hoffa was killed accurate, that part I can understand if it was made up. Part of the allure of what happened to Hoffa is that it could have happened in so many different ways. Cremation makes sense though.
Scorsese's time has passed. DeNiro is a whiny anti-Trump loon and Pesci only has one character. HARD PASS
It’s apparently far closer to the truth than the semi-fictional nonsense in Black Mass (I know it’s based on the book - that’s a coverup job and all). From what I read on Wiki, the death scene wasn’t far off, but Sheeran was involved in the removal of the body. Whatever happened to Hoffa after that is anyone’s guess.
Still, I couldn’t be arsed watching it. I’m not a fan of most of the people involved - an exception being Pesci and Bobby Cannavale - and I’m not actively wasting money or bandwidth to see deNiro pretend to be a plastic Paddy hoodlum.
From what I read of the film, the death of Hoffa was largely how it was supposed to have happened. As for the rest... well, it couldn’t have been any further off the mark than Black Mass (film and book), allegedly.
I still have no great interest in it, as I don’t like most of the people involved and could do without more deNiro pretending to be a plastic Paddy hoodlum.
