The night always sounds amazing and he prizes being bid on are phenomenal. The problem for the charity is that well over half of the people bidding, never pay up. They like to look important and rich and that they can afford to bid $1M on something. The thing is though, they never usually write a check or if they do, it bounces. The charity, run by an A+ list mostly movie actor doesn't seem to care though because he likes the buzz of being the host.

Celebrities want to (appear) to be seen as (super) wealthy; but most are just like everyone else: more debt than assets.

Obviously there are OTHER benefits to such galas as exemplified by Harvey Weinsteins behavior at the AmFar galas where he spent an AWFUL lot of money while living the life at the at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc on the French Riviera.
I wonder how much of that AIDS charity money actually goes to those that need help instead of rerouted and outdated retro-virals and clandestine life extension technology research?

The best thing ever thought was a few years ago when Leo was doing his regular hypocritical gig hanging at the Earth day festival with some marchers and a reporter actually called him on his bullshit asking him that if he's so earth day, then what about his yacht and private jet and their carbon footprint. He lost his shit and threw a tantrum. Awesome.
I don’t know anybody my age or younger who thinks DiCaprio is straight. Yes Leo, you’re a pudgy exhearthrob whose beards are obvious. We weren’t alive when he was hot/young and the internet didn’t exist to deconstruct the obviousness quid pro quo of his payroll models.

Who is the guy in the middle? Is it the infamous pervert David Geffen that everyone is talking about here on CDaN? I googled him, but he looks so bland that I have a hard time recognizing him in pictures.

I'd have loved to see that tantrum, too. But it's strange, not having a scripted answer down pat is so not Leo. He comes off as an absolute control freak, and you'd think he expects people to ask such questions. Or does he live in a bubble where it doesn't even occur to him that his own private lifestyle is not exactly eco-friendly? Is he that detached from reality?
Man, that picture Geeljire posted really upsets me. Rumoured uber-pedo Spielberg looks like the sweetest person on earth; a man every kid would love to have as their grandpa. And shady hypocrite Leo looks a bit fat, but adorable. He makes me wanna reach through the screen and pinch his cheeks.
