Blind Item #9

Don't use PED kids or you too can be a huge star sent down to the minors when they don't test you early like they did in other years.

Can anyone explain this to we non Yanks??

Vic, he was playing in the Champions League, and they sent him down to the school team.

Or, as they call it in baseball, the farm team.

If he starts playing better, he can come back to the Major Leagues.

PED — Performance Enhancing Drugs

Flashy-- took me a minute...PED= Performance Enhancing Drugs

So, Im guessing failed drug test real reason for pro baseball player being sent down to minors... Not sure if early is earlier in season or career?

sandybrook said...

Huge star is highly questionable for Mike, as for Kemp but at least he had a decently good career. But it's the Entern.

Sorry Loveless, your answer wasnt up yet when i started writing

I think Yep is trying to tell us something today...can't quite put my finger on it though.🤔

Vic since you're in England and this is a baseball blind--does anyone over there care that the Yankees and Red Sox are going to London to play 2 games this weekend? It's a pretty big deal here that they are going. Anyone else posting from there can comment too if they want to.

Kemp no longer a star much less a huge one.

Judge is not on the gas. This is supposed to be the Braves pitcher who was an all star last year and was just sent down. He was probably juiced last year, and not one em this year, which would be why he sucks.

@Sandy.

Im not in England, but have seen loads of ads online for it.

I can't say it's causing too much of stir yet as it would be a London thing anyway, but I'd watch it myself before any of that fucking Wimbledon tennis, rugby yawnion or women's football world cup.

It's being shown on TV here on a second tier subscription sports channel (which I have and might watch) so there won't be that a big TV audience for it.

The NFL London games, however, are very popular, nearly always selling out - even when held at Wembley which holds 90k+ - and shown live on network TV here (either Channel 4 or BBC2) so get quite a decent viewing. I reckon that's what Baseball are trying to emulate.

I'm surprised at the venue though, it's the old 2012 Olympic stadium which is a controversial white elephant.
I think London has more huge sports stadiums than any other city on Earth. One holding over 90k, one over 80k, three over 60k and maybe nearly ten, twelve or more from 20 to 40k.

And that doesn't include the two big cricket grounds, Lord's and The Oval which hold 30 and 25k respectively.

I guess one of the cricket grounds would have been the ideal location for the baseball - they were used for it in 2012 Olympics - but the Cricket world cup is in full swing here so the MLB's timing is poor to say the least.

So it's off to the infamous Boredome at Stratford East (West Ham United's 'London Stadium'. Not known for its atmosphere or spectating conditions)

Rambled on a bit there, sorry. But I hope that answers your question.

Yeah thanks Vic.

Ugh, Sandy are they going to start doing that like they do in the NFL? I hate when I have to get up at 7:00am to watch the Dolphins when they play there.

Brayson87 said...

The UK is probably the only place the NFL and baseball aren't losing fans and attendance.

sandybrook said...

They are trying England this year but Saturdays game is 4pm here and Sundays game starts at 10am here I think Mimsey. I think they want to go over there every year in a different country. And Japan and sometimes Australia and a few games in Mexico.

Is the NFL losing that many, Bray?

I read that viewership was down at the start of the last season, but don't know if it kept dropping or leveled out or increased. I didn't know about attendance falling though.
I suppose cost of the TV packages are the reason (as well as the dominance of certain cheating Boston sides)

sandybrook said...

Viewership increased last year Vic, the year before they lost a lot. People don't go to games for the reason it's better to watch on tv and very costly to go.

Yep-- Are you ok? Im thinking you're conducting an experiment...pick a cdan key word (closeted, yachting, etc)...answer every blind with the keyword. Like a broken clock, chances are, you'll be right twice a day????

Yes we know you are closeted. Please stop telling everyone

Flashy vic - Do you have any idea of the number of yanks in London? Billy ray Cyrus could sell out Wembley Arena easily. Septic tanks are everywhere.
