Blind Items Revealed #2

August 19, 2019

This former A+ list rapper filed paperwork to form a tax exempt organization. I think he thinks he is going to funnel everything through this thing and have all his income declared as religious activity.

Why not? Everyone else abuses NPOs for personal gain.

Now PK will have 2 “churches” to funnel funds through!

Would someone please alert Mr. Ye he is not the Messiah?

@Heffalumps - you are not even joking. I worked at a non profit for a year and the waste of funds was epic. It was nothing but a cash grab.

I worked for non-profits for 15 years. OMG. NO. How about an all-proft?
I was, among other things, a grant writer, and very successful. Everyone in my town wanted me to work for them. I was so disgusted by all that I had seen that I couldn't do it. That's another book I will never write. They kill grant writers, don't they/! lol

If you want to help people, help them. If you are effective people will help you help people. You don't need a building, staff, equipment and a designation from the IRS to do that, especially if you are Kanye.

There's an NPO local to me that promotes therapy animals for developmentally disabled children.

The only problem is the kids they're supposedly helping are literally never there. You know who's there constantly though? The children of the board members.

This place basically got the public to subsidize a ranch for their affluent kids. They spend more on fundraising galas then they do on charitable works by a wide margin.

Source was a friend of mine who worked as their CFO for two years before she resigned in disgust.

He probably got lots of tips from his greedy mother in law

Kris is probably the one who suggested he start a religion in the first place.

Heff, that sounds about right. Sad, really.
I had a corner office, good salary, great benefits, and I just couldn't do it anymore. When I did work for universities, I sucked it up for free tuition for myself and my children, but it was really gag-inducing.

Another one I forgot. My cousin worked for an NPO in Massachusetts whose mission was to build affordable housing for low income families. They did this by litigating against corporations that owned rental properties and violated fair/equitable housing laws.

Keep in mind, they had in house lawyers that worked directly for the NPO, so they didn't incur anywhere near the same amount of costs it would take to retain a firm to sue on their behalf.

She said in the 5 years she worked for them they took in over $150M from suits and settlements, and only built 9 properties, 7 of which were single family residences. Six of the properties were established her first year there.

I don't trust any charity or Foundation and I sure don't trust any religious leader.
It's a shame that's the way it is, but that's the way it is.
Most celebrities start Foundations because they have to find a way to provide for their useless lump relatives.
Bono's ONE Foundation giving less than 1% to actual people. The Clinton Foundation being basically a welfare scheme for useless illegitimate child Chelsea. The list goes on forever.
I suspected but didn't really know NPOs were just as bad.

@MissDavie Most charities, foundations, and religions file as NPOs.

It's an all purpose banner.

@OH YES I DID

Are you sure you're in the right thread?

Seriously, there wouldn't be so many NPO's if they weren't very profitable. Sheesh we should start a CDAN NPO.

Well said momo.

Local and grass roots is best OR go right to the source. Ask whatever group in need, what they need. And then as much as able, just quietly do it.

Samantha the 1st said...

I think the expenditures and how much of donations go to the actual need part of a charity has to be published, or given if asked.

Some are almost nil to the need.

BTW this blind - sounds like a tax shelter or writeoff?

Speaking of NPO abuse.. The top 2 people at Susan G Komen make over $1m collectively. Her sisters memory has been a cash cow for that asshole who started it.

hothot Don't get me started. My daughter had cancer at 14. It was the same time that everyone was wearing those fucking yellow live strong bracelets. For some reason they triggered both of us. Like buying some plastic shit does anything for people who are suffering. Years after her treatment had ended she kept getting invited to be a speaker at events, races, etc. for cancer related stuff. A few years ago she said, MOM I just don't want to do this anymore. I was so relieved. I didn't want to tell her about the $. I must say though, there was a group of women in our community that were survivors, and they gave my daughter money to spend any way she needed to while she was in college. I think it was 4k a year, which really made a difference. They were not affiliated with Komen or Livestrong or any of those do nothing groups.

I don't even trust the Goodwill or other charities like that any more lol. I think compared to what is donated to them, very little of the good stuff ever sees the inside of the store. I know that is the case with clothing because I once met a person who owned a company that pre-sorted through the donated clothing, picked out the best items and bought at a discounted rate by the pound. They later sold the clothing on E-bay. I mean it's not really that horrible, and I understand why Goodwill does it, to save labor costs and time, but still I don't think most people who donate their nice clothing to the Goodwill expect it to be sold on E-bay.
The good news is that people are so generous. It's really heartwarming. The bad news it that there are so bad many people who take advantage of that generosity. It sucks.

Goodwill sells its stuff in bulk overseas.

The workers at some of the huge corporate thrift stores get their pick.

I know someone who dropped off a bunch of nice toys. They said they heard the workers talking about which ones they were taking home.

To me that's theft. It's meant to be sold to benefit charity, not a corporation. Or not free stuff for staff.

I'm shocked that PMK hasn't tried something like this already. They could call it the Church of Turd.

Krissie said...

if we want to talk about NPOs let's start with the NRA

Thot Crimes said...

Goodwill is just a business name, and has nothing do with charity. The only national charity that is an actual charity is the Salvation Army. Basically all the funds end-up with someone in need.

Sadly for Kanye, he's not as smart as he thinks he is, and the IRS will see right through this. Money laundering, wire fraud and tax evasion charges are in his future. I wonder if Kim will stick around for all that?
