Blind Items Revealed #13

September 14, 2018

This iconic rock band, known for rumors and personal entanglements has topped themselves! The two Americans in this band, who joined as a couple with big dreams, have a tumultuous relationship.  Ironically, the male vocalist and guitarist was the only one the band wanted but he insisted he and his GF were a package deal when they joined the band 43 years ago.  His ethereal former girlfriend, who pursued a solo career in addition to her commitment to the band, was always obsessed with the male leader of another iconic band, recording with him and often taking the stage during his concerts. Though very friendly, the married Southern band leader never gave into her aggressive pressures to become a couple.

Heartbreakingly, the leader of this Southern Rock band died last fall.  This death seemed to bring about much angry entitlement in the singer.  She has been consumed with booting her ex from their band and replacing him with the lead guitarist from her dead friend’s band with whom she has written songs in the past.  She has a history of insisting on odd and eventually disastrous partnerships after someone close to her dies.  She was already angry with her ex  because, after years of refusing to create new music with the band,  the male singer and other female singer made an album together in 2017 naming it similar to the album she had made with her ex some 45 years ago.  The other two group members performed on the album too.  They did a brief tour which infuriated the singer.

Our singer  and her personal assistant who is known to have adversarial relationship with her ex, set about to gaslight him.  This resulted in a big fight in January during a very large award type show.  A week her ex was ousted in a landslide move and replaced with her dead friend’s mate.  Because the new band member is not known for his vocals, they crowded in another male singer.  The band set about to announce their new tour and tell the public her ex didn’t want to tour on their time table, thinking it would work because he declined to tour once during the late 80’s. The other female singer ( who has been with the band since 1970) was informed after the fact which she started on a TV interview related to the band’s lineup change.  This same band member threatened to quit soon afterwards if the band “didn’t make things right.”  She was begged to stay by the band’s founder and did so but is not happy with the situation.

The band didn’t count on were the leaks from their inner circle and their now ex-band member’s feisty young wife being very vocal about the real reason behind her husband’s departure.  They did not expect the fan backlash.   Especially from HER fans.

The now six member band is panicking because many aren’t buying the “he did not want to tour” line.  They do not want any backlash against their rock and roll ballerina because she is the most popular and known for her good witch persona.  They don’t want the public to know the real truth about this twirling singer because she is a main draw.

Making matters worse, the “new band” with the same name, just appeared on a daytime talk show with a lackluster performance and lots of criticism of no energy or chemistry in performing two of the songs from their classic 5 member line up.  Ticket sales to their tour are low and they are scrambling. I think they are in trouble!

Landslide, rumors good work there Enty! Anyhow I've always thought Stevie made the group as huge as it got, nobody else. Not because she's tremendously talented but because she was gorgeous back then and as we all know sex sells.

They should put a decent rated band as an opener. Mumford & Sons or similar would pull in another crowd.

I saw Lindsay Buckingham perform this fall at an outdoor amphitheatre with about 1000 people in attendance, and he played his heart out. Very friendly and enthusiastic, he made the concert a special time for everyone there.

One of my favorite blinds because of the great word clues. And because they are one of my favorite bands.

@Frazzled, I saw Lindsay Buckingham perform several years ago in San Francisco, in a place that sat about 600. It was an AWESOME show!

I still feel he's a douchebag (see my comment to the next revealed blind), but wow! what a show!

Not true Sandy, it was the songs, Rumors was HUGE when it came out, it was the great songs.
And this was well before MTV--the sex thing helped--and rock videos--- made HER a big star, that I agree with.

I don’t know Sandy. Bob Welch was pretty influential back in the day. Pre Nicks and Buckingham.

Just watched a clip of them on Ellen. It was painful to listen to...

Rumour had it, that during the recent tour, some shows were canceled or postponed due to band members illness. And the illness was bad drugs from the same source, that amps them up for shows. Dicking around with blow, and other uppers, at their age? And in the age of drugs contaminated with fentenyl? Real dumb.

But they weren't huge with Bob Welch, they were good even without Christine and blues based weekitty. I liked that group a lot. At least they never sold out to the point Grace Slick and Paul Kantner did with Jefferson Airplane/Starship though.

Nicks is 70. She and Buckingham were the geniuses.
I guess she blew her fortune... she should have many millions by now.

It's Mick Fleetwood who blew through his millions. Stevie always has to have drama and controversy. She thrives on it. She also thinks the world revolves around her. Don't get me wrong, her old stuff is some of my favorite music but her voice is trashed. They need to hang it up. It's like watching my granny sing.

They need to hang it up for good.

I saw them at Classic East in the summer of 2017. I'm not sure but that may have been the last time they performed with Lindsay. I was excited to see them, but they had a few stumbles and false starts in their performance, which made me doubt that I would ever pay to see them on their own. And a lot of the crowd was pouring out the side doors (FM was the closing act for the two day concert).

This was never presented as him not wanting to tour? From the beginning, it was reported that he was fired. And their shitbag manager Irv Azoff phoned Buckingham and said it was Stevie who didn't want him. So there was never any pretense that things ended on good terms.

Heartbreakingly.

Thinkthinkthink said...

Oh, but it was. Very much so. The press, on April 9th announced he was fired. The band was interviewed on the CBS Morning Show by Anthony Mason. Mick Fleetwood specifically and focally stated; “We just could not get him to sign on a agreed timetable to tour. Fire is such an ugly word.” The band said the problem was he wouldn’t agree to tour on their time schedule and wanted to wait. They later back peddled as his wife called out their lie and later him. It was very much indeed presented as him not wanting to tour. That was the only explanation given by the band.

Thinkthinkthink said...

The story that it was Stevie’s doing was only told by Lindsey and would not be known but for Lindsey via his lawsuit that was quickly settled by the band. They have never admitted it was Stevie’s doing. You should go back and watch the CBS interview where Stevie essentially said she had nothing to do with it. You seem only to know the results of LB’s truthtelling but don’t know his the band has lied. Hence the blind.

@unknown ... "This team wanted to get out on the road. And one of the members did not want to get out on the road for a year," Nicks said. "We just couldn't agree. And you know, when you're in a band, it's a team. I mean I have a solo career, and I love my solo career, and I'm the boss. Absolutely. But I'm not the boss in this band."

Lol, the amount of clues in this blind. Rumors, dreams, heartbreakingly, landslide, witch, the "I think they're in trouble, rock & roll ballerina, ethereal former GF, twirling singer, lead of Southern rock band recent death, and probably more I missed.
I'm casting a heavy side eye though on the no sexual contact between Petty & Nicks.

This site has previously claimed that Lindsey is losing his hearing and it was causing issues. Some youtuber latched onto a reader comment about shows being cancelled due to substance abuse. Two shows were cancelled in Canada, after it had already been noted by fans at previous show that Stevie was coming down with a cold. The band turned up to the next soundcheck but decided it was risky to go ahead - that singing in the cold air could worsen Stevie's condition and affect the rest of the tour. So they cancelled. The band may have a few drinks, a joint here and there maybe. But Stevie has to be careful and deliberate onstage. She has always had very poor vision but still wears those platform heels. If she makes a bad move she could suffer injury and she knows it. That's to be avoided at 70 so I think she'd be staying sober. She still does her 'crackhead dance' for GDW lol but that's roleplaying. That's as far as it goes nowadays.
