Sauerkraut with skinless boneless chicken breasts. We did it one year when we had no pork on hand, and haven't considered going back.

Black eyed peas for luck, braised cabbage for money and ham chunks in both for flavor! No idea when or how it started but I think it's a southern thing.

You're making it with 2 week old ham?!?!?

Black eyed peas. I need all the luck I can get.

My husband, dad, and kids will have corned beef as well.

Not on NYD, but on NYE me and my dad get a couple of sirloin steaks and baked potatoes. Dad's been gone for a while. But I carried on the tradition, but this year, I'm thinking of changing things up and go to a slots parlor this year, just to be around people.

Black-eyed peas and collard greens. Gotta drink the pot-liquor for luck.

Black Eyed Peas (coins), pork (high on the hog food), greens or cabbage (dollars), cornbread (gold)
It's all about luck and money

If you're asking me @Hothot Christmas was Wednesday so it's been in the freezer for about a week. Went in Wednesday night, comes down tomorrow evening to thaw in the frig, wont take long because it's sliced.
