What Do You Think?

So, imagine if you were married or have a significant other. Your partner is out of town. In that town he goes to dinner with someone he calls a friend. After dinner someone takes a picture of the couple strolling down the street. This is what happened to Ewan McGregor. The woman who is snuggling against him and holding his hand is most assuredly not his wife. It is Melanie Laurent. The pair recently finished shooting a movie together and were spotted by the paps as they left a Paris dinner. What would you think if you saw this picture of the two of them together? Something going on? Innocent?

  1. Oh, so not innocent. Why, Obi-Wan?

  2. id be suspecious, look at the way they're holding hands, i doubt they're still in character for whatever movie it is. isn't anyone faithful anymore

  3. Well it WAS cold that night, lol. Its par for the course, you are on these movie sets for a long time with your co-star, an on set romance is common.

  4. Agree with emailchallenged. The way they are holding hands is not at all innocent.

  5. I always thought Ewan was better than this, I don't know which way he will TRY to spin it, but if I saw my bf walking down the street like that with another woman, then he knows to start digging his own grave..

  6. It doesn't seem innocent to me, but is there any video to go along with this? Maybe (and I know I'm reaching) they were just being overly affectionate without crossing another line or maybe they were bolstering each other against the cold.

  7. I'm sure he'll have an angle, but if I saw a picture like this of my husband with some broad, he'd be looking for alternate accommodations for the night.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Even if it was innocent it was wrong because they are cuddling.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Is it possible that paps were fucking hounding them and ol' girl was just holding on for dear life.. little broads are like that with all the lights and dudes asking a billion questions. Those dudes can be gnarls. It's like they were pushed into looking like they were together.

  10. Unless it was -30 degrees, there was no way this was innocent.

  11. Ewan loves his freaking wife..i don't see it. This is the guy that was kissing Jim Carrey last week. he's very affectionate to everyone if you've watched either The Long Way Down or Round, you can definitely see that.(documentary)

i have guy friends that are like that with me for a like a nanosecond when its cold out or it's night.i think it was a fluke photo.

  12. I would not be walking like this with any of my married male friends. This does not look innocent.

  13. Their body language looks pretty intimate. Not cool. But, if you were really having an affair, would you cuddle up like this out on the street? When you know you're often photographed by the paps? I'd be sneakier if I were really up to something. This girl could have very well set Ewan up. Invited him to dinner as friends, and then called a pap and told him when to be outside the restaurant. As soon as they hit the door, she makes her move and the picture is snapped before he can do anything. And, just like that, a little known actress has lots of free press. Don't put anything past an ambitious actress. Ever.

  14. Jax, go to the daily mail, there is another photo just like this one, looks like they're walking down the street together, and another one where it looks like they could be holding hands talking to some guy..

No innocence there. Too cozy. Men don't hold hands with a WOMAN they aren't f*cking or hoping to f*ck soon.

  16. Sorry to burst all bubbles, but years ago I met a guy who worked on Moulin Rouge. Apparently Ewan McGregor had a fling with Nicole Kidman, and in one of our daily papers, they reported that he picked a woman up one night and had sex. He had left his wedding ring off and she didn't realise who it was until the next morning. He never sued. Australian papers, unlike our magazines, very rarely get gossip wrong, won't print unless they are sure.

  17. Paris, a cold night, the false intimacy of filming a movie together, a little bistro, a little wine. Hello? Not so innocent. Maybe a one-nighter, but that man is planning to have sex with that woman. On the other hand, maybe he and his wife have an "arrangement." One never knows anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Nah, he also kissed Hayden Christiansen on the lips to greet him. I'm just not seeing smutiness here. Affection, but not necessarily anything else. He looks more like he is protecting her than screwing her.

I think the hand holding is what crosses the line for me. I wrap my hand around a guy's arm all the time and there is nothing sexual about it -- I've done it when it was cold and I'm trying to stay warm, or when I was a bit tipsy and needed balance. But I definitely DO NOT hold hands with someone who is not my boyfriend or family member.

  20. FERALTART...YUP, I HEARD ABOUT HIM AND NICOLE KIDMAN......
HIS WIFE IS FRENCH...MAYBE SHE'S VERY BROAD MINDED...

  21. he must've had a lot of wine at dinner. either that, or he doesn't give a shit that there's no innocent explanation for this picture.

  22. Anonymous12:52 PM

    Isnt she Mélanie Laurent?

    They were filming Beginners.

  23. I'm with JAX. I've had demonstrative friends do this with me. It's probably nothing. Maybe not entirely "appropriate," but nothing to worry about, going by this single photograph anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Being a female with many male friends, i don't think its that big a deal. And we don't know what was going on, if there were a load of paps there crowding them, then he was probably just protecting her as any man would do. Unless he had his lips on hers or was feeling her up in a suggestive way, i don't see how this pic is cause for alarm.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Geez, it's not just one photo, go to the daily mail..

    ReplyDelete
  26. oh pls. i'm the world's most touchy/feely/huggy person, and i hug and kiss everyone (cultural thing). i also travel a lot, and do dinner out a lot w/ friends wherever i'm at...that said, i have never, ever snuggled up like that to any friend, nor interlocked fingers like that no matter how great the dinner or evening out. innocent my ass.

    ReplyDelete
  27. linking arms, okay. Hands and fingers intertwined? Don't effing think so

    ReplyDelete
  28. p.s. Check the daily mail photos, they're worth the look

    ReplyDelete
  29. Unless there is a picture of him with his tongue down her throat (or his penis in her hand)I'm opting to believe it's innocent.

I'm married and monogamous. I have cuddled up to close male friends (for warmth, for support, because they are my friend and I love them)and my husband is ok with it. Why? Because he knows I love him and don't want to be with any one else so he isn't threatened.

Hard to say. It looks too public to be anything beyond "innocent". Mr. Paparazzi also has a bunch more photos:

  31. Wasn't he the answer to Lainey's blind item about the couple that loved to swing?

That pose is pretty intimate, though.

    ReplyDelete

There is no way of knowing from this picture. I think Melanie is completely right. I am a happily married woman and would NEVER consider cheating on my spouse, but you could snap picture, capturing a split second of time and find me in this same position with a FRIEND and it could be a friend of either sex. I feel sorry for all of you who have never experienced non-sexual touching or cuddling. I can't believe that it is not natural to want to touch and physically connect with someone you love from the moment your mother held you when you were a baby.

  33. I know someonw who worked on Moulin Rouge. Yes Ewan f*cks around. Yes, it's disappointing. No, I've never, ever held my male friends hands like that and I def. wouldn't do it with any of the taken ones.

  34. I hear him & his wife are swingers and have an open marriage

  36. Not innocent, but I have heard Nina's comment before, so I don't know that his wife will be bothered at all...
Wish he'd swing my way, except for the fact that I'm married and not a swinger.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ditto @Adventure Kate and Nina. I don't think the wife is at home crying...

    ReplyDelete
  38. It's f-ing Melanie Laurent. He'd have to be nuts not to hit that.

    ReplyDelete
  39. It kind of looks like she is drunk & leaning on him for support.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Um yes - I'm with Adventurous Kate. Hate to break it to you people, but his wife is known as being very open-minded. They are in love and very happy, yes, but there are 101 blinds about how Ewan and the wife have a caring and sharing marriage. Good on them, if it works!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Not innocent at all. It's not the hand holding- it's her head leaning onto his shoulder that's the give away.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Yep, Lainey had a blind about their "swinging" relationship, and she's come out and said that the two have an "enlightened" arrangement. If I ever hear of an A or B list couple who are totally devoted to JUST each other I'd be surprised. I doubt fidelity exists in the entertainment industry.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I thought they were filming, but filming ended in December. What are they doing in Paris together?

    ReplyDelete
  44. I don't have an opinion about whether or not he's a dog, because it's none of my business. But may I just say he is the hottest guy I have ever seen?! I said, goddamn, goddamn, goddamn!

    ReplyDelete
  45. i'm extremely affectionate with my male friends, and my husband knows them, and has counted on them to watch out for me back in the days of parrot head travel. mr. buns trusts me, i trust him.
he once car-pooled with a man and a woman, the woman's husband wouldn't allow her to carpool on days when it was only ONE of the guys. to us that was the most bizarre thing ever.
but then again, we've been married 25 years, known each other since '77, and i've known his mom since i was a kid. we don't have a reason to cheat. we actually LIKE each other.
anyway, i'm not pointing any "guilty" fingers at this one.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I am with M and alexandria... its the fingers...I expect any/every many to escort me..and I hold on to men of varying degress of "intimacy"..men who do do "fingers" wanna "do it" to me.. no ifs and or buts..well sometimes butts, but I dont really like that kinda thing...oh my, thats another story altogether now isn't it...

    ReplyDelete
  47. yes yes and he apparently fathered nicole kidman's child that ended in miscarriage while she was with tommy girl if the papers are to be believed. i can totally believe the open marriage but not cheating.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Ya as a guy I will say this: Holding hands to snuggle up, not a problem. I'm 6'4" 280 lbs, happens to me with girls all the time. Hell, it happens in the summer, too =)

    BUT...

Interlacing fingers is way more than innocent. There is no need to interlace fingers with a chick that ins't sleeping with you. If you have done this to a guy, I will say this: you gave him naughty thoughts. I mean, would you interlace hands with your brother or sister? Don't think so. Ask your guys friends what they think. You'll be surprised how much changes when you interlace fingers with a dude.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Anonymous4:54 PM

trogdor - I do interlace fingers with non-sexual partners. I have NEVER heard of it having some secret meaning and the one guy nearby to ask says he hasn't either. I think you might be getting messages from women where none were sent. You might find direct communication more successful.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I'm glad people finally started bringing up the open marriage thing. I thought it was common knowledge! Hey if it works for them, good on them (I couldn't do it but if they're BOTH happy with the arrangement then I don't see a problem with it.) BUT I HAVE TO SAY - open relationship or not, I STILL wouldn't want to see PICTURES of my husband with other women, even if I know it's going on & I'm comfortable with it. Ewan better show more discretion next time ;)

    ReplyDelete
  51. I've def linked arms with my guys friends before but I'm with most people - the intertwined fingers is a bit much...

    ReplyDelete
  52. If I saw a picture of someone touching my husband like this (other than his sister) I would be devastated. At the worst, he is busted. At best, she is just a rude bitch and so is he.

    ReplyDelete
  53. im with jax here - i have def done that with non-sexual partners (i am very happily common law married) and there was nothing to it except friendship. Especially if we havent seen each other for a while, it can be a quick way to reestablish some kind of "hey, i missed you, i like you", with both men and women, but its def not sexual!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Could easily be innocent. I would do that with a close male friend. And Lainey has some blinds that point to he and his wife being swingahhhhhs. Maybe he was bringing her back to their hotel room?? :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. Jax - I don't care how affectionate my husband is, that photo looks a bit too cozy. Although it looks like she's clinging to him. In that case I would gleefully get in her face and back her the hell up!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Ya know... this is the kind of shot that the media loves and the celebs hate. This could be absolutely innocent, but because everyone WANTS DRAMA, it can mean only one thing... He's a lying, cheating, dirty rotten scoundrel.
When in reality, this could be completely the opposite. Having been in the film industry myself for almost 10 years and being married, I can say that my wife would have no problem with seeing this picture of me and a co-star after dinner on a cold evening. That's because she loves and trusts me. I'm affectionate with my friends and so is she. As opposed to seeing this shot as Ewan sneaking around, why don't we see this as an example of the strength of his marriage and the close and loving bond he and his wife share? A respect and trust that transcends any petty jealousies conjured up by some random Pap Pic?
Oh because he is totally cheating on her... the bastard.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I think having an open marriage is probably a smart way for Hollywood couples to make it long term (if done safely). However, to me swinging is just about the sex. Seeing your man being intimate with another woman publicly (this pic as well as them sitting together at the premiere of his other movie)seems like it would be tough. Whatever the truth is, doesn't cloud my fondness of him at all, especially since I really like her too.

    ReplyDelete
  58. i remember pix with Bono and Penelope Cruz holding hands together in St Tropez!! The rumor said they're together but there was ONE TROUBLE: his wife and children behind him on the pictures!

On Mélanie Laurent/Ewan McGregor, she 's in the mags this time and she tells many good things on McGregor!

Look at yesterday's random photos and check out Heidi Klum and Michael Kors. http://www.crazydaysandnights.net/2010/02/random-photos-part-two_11.html

Based on the ascertations of most of the commneters, at least a few of Heidi's kid must have been fathered by Michael Kors.
