Lauren Alaina Was Rejected Twice By America's Got Talent

Pretty interesting segment last night with Lauren Alaina on Leno. First, she backtracked like crazy on the whole boyfriend thing with Scotty McCreery. I think they actually are a couple, or at least hooked up a few times during the show, but Scotty is going to make a lot more money by being single and attracting that Justin Bieber crowd, so Lauren, who had said they were boyfriend and girlfriend last night suddenly starts saying they are just friends and blah blah blah.

Piers Morgan, who will do anything to get people to watch his show, was on Leno and commented that he thought Lauren had the better voice. Lauren then said she tried out for America's Got Talent twice and never got past the first round. So much of this is about a combination of factors and if the producer you see has had their coffee, and thinks you look good that day or interesting.

That big, two-tone hair is awful on anyone, let alone a 16-year-old.

She is a pleasant enough singer, but nothing exceptional. It was very obvious when she sang with Carrie on the finale.

He's 17 and she's 16. They've been in close quarters for many months now. I'd be more surprised if nothing happened between them.

See now, I think she has just as good a voice as Carrie Underwears.

Also, would not be surprised if they were a couple.

I would have never thought the same kids who love Bieber would have the same love for Scotty, mostly b/c he is so very, very country. Do the kids really listen to that much country these days?

I've never heard her sing but Piers's reaction was funny.

This poor child's stylist should be exiled from planet Earth.

She's a good singer, but nothing special about it. So I'm not 'wow, she was rejected'.

Nigel wanted country singers and youngsters from the beginning, so they fit his casting plan perfectly. I think people overestimate the teeny bopper vote - if the voting was about cute boys, Stefano and James would've stuck around longer than they did. I think it was middle aged women that gave Scotty the win.

MCH, you may be right. I'm not a follower of country music. Maybe it's just because she's so young and may need a little time to vocally mature that it seemed to me she was outsung by CA.

I think Lauren thought they had something going on but Scotty was like, "Uh, wait. I can get plenty of girls now. Let me see what else is out there."

My biggest problem with American Idol (and the reason I havent watched past the first few seasons) is because they make all the kids on the show TOTALLY stylized and it looks caa doo doo fake.
Ugh, like her two-toned hair for instance- gag. And those rhine-stoned cowboy boots- double gag.
Even if they HAVE talent they all end up looking manufacutred and cookie cute ala a Britney Spears/Justin Timberlake/X-tina.

It just gives me those old memories of gross matching outfitted boy and girl bands from the 90's and I shudder and turn the channel, cause if I have to see another 98degrees type person I will literally go insane.

@mikey - I think Carrie has an AMAZING voice, but I was cutting Lauren a little slack since she'd blown out one of her vocal cords earlier in the day & they weren't even sure if she'd be able to sing.

I thought Carrie acted like the b*tch she is and ensured she outsang Lauren, especially at the end of the song, when Lauren stopped and Carrie did that run. Mean. Which is what she is, especially to a 16 year old with vocal problems. Also every other act came out dresses the same as the AI finalists they were singing with, except Carrie, who wore short shorts to Lauren's Grand Ole Opry style dress. Mean.

I think I might actually pay to see this season's contestants, which makes me officially a loser. But that's how much I liked them...
