Four For Friday - The Concert
It is Friday. My favorite day of the week. The day when a new work week seems so far into the future and 48 hours of happiness is between you and coming back on Monday. Even with all of my drinking and partying and excessive food eating I will be here all weekend so I hope you will stop by. Back in the day I was working backstage at a concert to earn a couple of bucks but I don't even remember getting paid. I do remember having one hell of a weekend though. This was back when every weekend seemed to produce some type of charity concert. Get a whole bunch of people together and find some cause and then play a massive show in front of a hundred thousand screaming people who have been drinking and smoking all weekend in the hot sun. They have all this festival stuff down to a science now with first aid stations and tons of security but back then these things were thrown together pretty quickly and dehydration and overdoses were as common as women flashing for cameras.
I stumbled into the gig because I was a good gofer and this A list mostly television actress who they assigned me to was supposedly a huge pain to deal with and I was to follow her around for 48 hours. This was an eye opening 48 hours. It was the first time I saw someone actually shooting up and was also given a 30 minute lecture by this now deceased former A list guitarist who could rock anyone anytime before he tragically was killed about the proper mixture of cocaine and heroin in a speedball. I remember him also making me hold his drug stash while he and the actress I was following around had sex. Everyone wanted to have sex with her. She was A list at the time and super sexy and in between marriages. She was iconic at the time because of something that was named after her television character. One guy who relentlessly hit on her all weekend to the point where she threatened to walk out was the lead singer of this then A list rock group. They might have been A+ list then and just finally recently called it quits. Pretty much everyone in the band is a name you know. I'm not even sure why he was trying all that hard to have sex with the actress because I have never seen someone at the height of their popularity like he was be at a concert where it seemed like every woman there wanted to sleep with him. He was having sex with multiple women per hour and doing lines of coke in between to stay sharp. He played two songs the entire weekend but must have had sex with 50-60 women.
One singer that was there who is also dead now I watched light himself on fire while freebasing. He performed wearing a bandage over his arm where he had severely burned himself and had already fallen so fast in the few years since he had been on top. He pretty much stayed with his band and the only reason I saw him burn himself is because he wanted to meet the actress I was following and was like a kid in a candy store and kept taking photo after photo to make sure he got one that turned out.
The actress really turned out to not be a pain at all. Considering how much everyone wanted a photo or to be seen with her she just laughed at all the attention and din't take any of it seriously and she even told me she knew she wasn't a great actress and that she could relate to many of the groups performing because she considered herself a one hit wonder and knew her time would end as an A lister but she also knew she could make money based off what she did with that one hit and that was all that mattered to her. I remember at the end of the weekend she gave me a shirt (she had been throwing identical ones to the crowd all weekend) but this one she signed her name to and also she attached a note with a little gold safety pin and it was a nice card that said thanks for keeping her out of trouble and for a few other things. It was a nice touch and somewhere along the line I lost the shirt, but still have the card with the gold safety pin.

At first I thought Heather Locklear but now I am leaning to Jennifer Anniston and her character from friends who launched a million RACHEL HAIRDO's.
I was thinking Pammy, but Anniston is a good guess.

Sounds like the band is Motley Crue which makes the singer Vince Neil.
My first thought was Anniston because of the Rachael, but is Enty making it sound like she was also a one hit wonder as a songstress?

For a guitarist who was tragically killed and had substance issues all I've got is Stevie Ray Vaughan. However he was killed in 1990 which moves this concert to circa late 1980s. Motley Crue is fine for that timeline but we may have to rethink the woman. Aniston didn't start Friends till 1994. Locklear sorta fits timewise, although she was doing TJ Hooker rather than the later Melrose Place that gave her higher visibility, but I don't think she has ever been regarded a pain to deal with.
I'll toss out Cybill Shepard but I can't think of anything named after her characters.
I think it's Pamela Anderson, I don't know about the bands, probably Tommy Lee's. Every guy wanted Pam back then, it must be her.

Baywatch started in 1989. So Pammy is possible from a timeline perspective. However she didn't have her first marriage till 1995 and that ended in 1998. So that makes it kind of late for the concert if the actress was between marriages at the time.
Jason got the answer except the guitarist that died tragically died of a Speedball overdose..Hillel Slovak of Red Hot Chili Peppers would also be of this era and he passed in 1988. Actress named for something? Something that was named after her television character. Daisy Dukes.
I think Sugarbread has it with Catherine Bach and her "daisy dukes" She was in between marriages from 81-90 What about Bon Jovi for the band that you know everyone. Also, maybe Randy Rhodes (Ozzy's guitarist) for the tragic death, I think Led Zeppelin broke up in 1980

Motley Crue doesn't have any dead members to my knowledge. Is there anything called "the Pamela Anderson"? Because if not I'm not sure she fits.
It feel like this is about a multiple day festival like Lollapalooza -that would rule out RHCP bc their guitarist died in 1987 and that didn't start until 1991. Nirvana never played Lollapallooza, they were supposed to but then pulled out shortly before Kurt died. Singer could be Layne Staley of Alice in Chains - 1993 tour.
Other ideas for multiple day festivals - Tibetan Freedom Concert, Woodstock 99? I feel like 80s is hard to believe that "enty" was around then.

I think this took place at at Farm Aid concert, 1986ish. Catherine Bach appears in the Farm Aid documentary (1987), so that makes sense. Lots and lots of acts that could fit the other descriptions too.

Only Hillel and a few others have died like this..I think it could be Steve Clark from Def Leppard who died in 1991 from Codeine, alcohol, valium and morphine and perhaps Enty is confused on that? Def Leppard was around the same time and all these bands could be on a bill or festival together.
The 30 minute lecture was about the proper mix of c & h in a speedball. The "he could rock anyone before he was tragically killed" is a separate part of the sentence.
Rewritten, it would say "I got a lecture about how to mix a speedball from this guitarist who was tragically killed".

Sorry @Jason I misread a comment. I thing @oogabooga got it. Farm Aid 1987. Daisy Duke for girl. SRV for tragically killed awesome guitarist who liked a good speedball. Other singer who died and was in a band (which I think is the key thing bc there were lots of singers there like say Roy Orbison or John Denver who have since died but really there as solo artists) may be Carl Wilson of the Beach Boys.
ok I give up because it says the singer who lit his arm on fire and was in a band "had already fallen so fast in the few years he'd been on top"- so that's not a Beach Boy - and if it is Farm Aid this happened in 86 - stumped. Why do I care so much about this stupid blind???

Damn! I thought the fallen singer was Shannon Hoon from Blind Melon, but the timeline doesn't work. My first thought was Stevie Ray Vaughn for the guitarist.
And now that I've seen the lineup of the 1986 FarmAid, I guess the fallen singer is Rick James. And the harrasser is Bon Jovi.

The two guitarists from The Pretenders died from drugs around that time. I keep thinking Crystal Light, the beverage, for Crystal from one of the nightime soaps, Linda something but she had more than one show.
Victoria Principal from Dallas has a skin care line named after her and dated Andy Gibb who died of some drug related thing. Of all the people mentioned she is really noted for being a pain in the je ne sais quoi.
you guys are good, at first i thought ANiston and "the Rachael" you know how much she loves her musicians. but aniston only had one marriage. Definately daisy dukes, bon jovi for the group we all know, cobain in there somewhere. Dont they have an annual Dukesfest somewhere!
