The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Trailer
Sony seems to be playing a little game with everyone. Notice at the beginning of the trailer how it looks like it is being shot with a hand held camera at a theatre. Yeah, that lasts for about five seconds and then the rest of the trailer looks perfect with no shaking, no audience and no sound issues. It is great marketing, but they should have kept up with the shaky thing throughout the entire thing. It is too easy to spot it as a marketing trick. When I watched the preview, it looks great, but honestly, it looks exactly like the Swedish version. Exactly. Oh, except for Daniel Craig.

It does look almost like a shot-for-shot remake. But it's Fincher so I'll gladly hop on. Seems a little early to put out a full trailer. The movie doesn't come out for almost another 7 months.
Yup, looks exactly the same. Did they film it in the exact same locations and everything?? I was going to totally ignore this, but then I spotted Stellan Skarsgaard...rarely have a father-son team been so hot :)
It IS shaky the whole time. You can't tell through the action as much, but when the titles appear at the end, they are clearly moving.
I loved the swedish trilogy, and I though Lisbeth in the swedish version was spot on....odd looking, but when you really looked at her lovely..which was what I got from the book.
I don't like Rooney Mara...I find her odd looking but not lovely.
Completely unnecessary remake. Everyone needs to get over their fear of subtitles and see the original Swedish version that came out 1-2 years ago.

looks alike a "greatest hits" of the swedish movie with some different actors : if you yet saw the original movie,you see all the movie in this trailer BUT the music is bad ass(the best thing of the trailer)
and the score sounds really well for a something taken with a camera in theater

I hate that Americans won't watch subtitles, the original was great, but I'm sure I'll watch.

I FINALLY finished the books, so I need to catch up on the Swedish movies. Apparently the original title of the book was supposed to be "Men Who Hate Women"... :-/ I'm glad they changed it.
I think it's lazy not to watch films just because they have sub-titles. People are missing out by avoiding foreign films.
I prefer not to watch movies with subtitles because I find it distracting from watching what is going on in the movie. Maybe I'm just a slow reader :)
The Swedish movies were great! More people should be willing to watch movies with subtitles.
I'll still see this, because I loved the books, but it's really unnecessary.

I thought Noomi Rapace was riveting in the original version.
Enty love you but you are so very wrong about it being a shot-for-shot remake. I enjoyed the Swedish versions, but by far the weakest part was the direction. Of course they didn't have the budget that Fincher and Co. have but all three films were very cut and dry in regards to lighting and cinematography & direction. As for sound design & soundtrack it was definitely not that spectacular and I suspect Reznor will kill it.
Also, for those that read the books, you'll all know that the movies changed quite a bit for the films. I suspect Fincher will also change a bunch but let's not pretend that the Swedish version was EXACTLY like the books. It wasn't and that's a fact.
I usually like original films no matter what the language and cringe at thought of Zak Effron in Akira, but this "exactly like the Swedish version" is absolute crap. Especially if judging it by a trailer.
Fincher has proven over and over to be an excellent director, even the films of his I don't like are still crafted to near perfection. But I guess it makes people feel like they are true film lovers to blindly attack a film they haven't seen just because they enjoyed the original film. Good luck with that, I'll be in the theater hopefully enjoying a different version of a really cool story. Who says we can't like them both?
why would i bother to see this if i've already seen all three of the EXCELLENT swedish movies? the subtitles weren't that big of a deal.
"The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" is called "Men Who Hate Women" in Swedish (Män Som Hatar Kvinnor).
I loved the original movies (only read the first book though)...especially living abroad, watching all the scenes shot in Stockholm because they're my streets. And the way they let the city almost play a character in the movie just gets me because I really love Stockholm.
In this trailer you briefly see Lisbeth walking down some stairs. She's about two blocks away from where I went to elementary/ junior high school! *L*
I might watch this though, it'll be interesting to compare. Although I do find it completely unnecessary ;)
Oh yeah, when I watch any movie in Swedish over here, I still read the subtitles. Don't know why. I totally know what they're saying anyway...*L*
I'm still not sure how I feel about seeing the Hollywood version of something that was so incredibly good. To this day, I won't watch "Vanilla Sky," because I enjoyed "Abre Los Ojos" so much and thought Tom Cruise was a joke for that role. In my mind, no one can do a role that Noomi owned. She was just brilliant is Lisbeth!
