This will probably mean nothing to those of you outside California, but Barney's cafe got a B. Do you know how bad your restaurant has to be to get a B? I could not stop laughing when I saw this. Celebrities would probably never ever enter any other place that has a B, but have no problems with this.

The Barneys comment is regarding the LA County health department's letter grading system for restaurants and other food providers.(Cleanliness, proper food storage, etc.) The grade must be visibly posted so patrons know the current health department rating.
Thanks amazonblue - so "B" is "really bad"? At least, that's what I'm getting from this. I'm also thinking the reference to celebrities is that this place is really popular with them or something?
Our office was having a lunch meeting at the restaurant / bar with rooftop seating on the end to the left if you are facing the Manhattan Beach pier.
The had a C on the wall. I had never seen a C before. I still don't believe the manager's explanation.
If the grading is for Barney's Beanery on Santa Monica, I'm suprised it scored that high. That place was gross. But the celebs loved it. Musta been selling something other than food and beer ;)
Most restaurants have rats, and ALL of them have roaches. I don't care if they have A++++++ rankings. When you eat out, you're basically feasting on a big ol' bowl of teeming bacteria.

Barney's of New York has a location on Wilshire in Beverly Hills. The restaurant inside is very expensive, a cup of regular coffee is $3.75, side of fries is $7.00, various omlettes start at $15.00 etc.
Overpriced and unclean too.

Oh man, that's horrible about the baby with defects no matter who the mother may be.
I gotta admit with nothing better to do last Saturday night I also watched Knight and Day and even laughed a little. Cameron was pretty weak, but Tom's character cracked me up. "I got this."

A B rating in SoCal?? Somebody obviously pissed off the health inspector. I used to know someone with first hand knowledge of most of the restaurant kitchens in my area and some of his stories were gross. I've heard that people would never eat in a restaurant (any restaurant) if they knew even half of what's happening behind the swinging doors.
But, I love going out so I just pretend I never heard anything.

msgirl yep her baby was born May 19 - definitely still a newborn. If that is considered almost-newborn then I might have to reconsider calling friends' babies newborns at one month *wince*.
If anyone has seen Marion's mother it's in her genes that the baby weight would fall completely off. Plus she was wearing a lot of spanx / garments underneath her clothes in the Dior shoot which keep her post-pregnancy line in check. But I still do like the shoot.
Dunno who Nacho is, but he sure is rockin' those white pants.

Last year, I spent a weekend (only) in Paris. My husband and I were wandering along some street when we came across a store window that was full of signs devoted to Kylie Minogue. They looked like street signs and all had cliches (in english) that integrated Kylie's name, such as "Kylie-Licking Good" and "Happiness is Kylie Minogue Shaped." It was the most bizarre thing. We had to take a picture. It was Sunday so everything was closed so we have no idea what that "store" was.

Wow, didn't take Biel long to find a new Merkin. I wonder if he has the same deal Timberlake had - he can fuck around with as many chicks as he wants, but Biel helps him have a "good guy" image. On the other hand, being a man whore hasn't hurt him so far, so maybe it's straight publicity he's looking for.
I have a friend that is a DHEC inspector, who said, if you eat out your restaurant better have an "A" on it's doors b/c it's NOT very hard to get the "A" and if you don't have one, that means things are really, really bad.
