18 Year Old Moves Himself, Girlfriend And Her Family Into A House He Does Not Own

When I was 18, I don't think I did anything but drink and go to school. Todd Blauvelt of Ontario though has a whole different thing he does. It turns out he convinced his 15 year old girlfriend and her parents that he owned this lake house and got them to move in with him. This all worked out well until the real owner showed up one day and called the police.

It all started when Todd told some of his friends his father owned a lake house and took them to it. He then said he did not have the key, but knew where the spare was. He found it, so his friends believed him. A few weeks later he invited his girlfriend and parents up to the lake and they moved in. Didn't they have their own place to live? Why would they need to move in with an 18 year old kid?

Todd was charged with a variety of crimes including Canada's version of statutory rape because he had sex with his too young girlfriend.

Each time I go to VA Beach or the Outer Banks, I always gaze at the palatial houses right by the shore and daydream about doing something like this.

But, of course, I'm sane and comprehend boundaries, so I don't...

A hundred bucks says it was in Muskoka. Bad move.

Wait. This happened in Rochester, NY. Which is not Ontario, Canada. It is across the lake though.

Dumb ass parents for letting them date then even dumber for moving in. Seriously? WTF?

We own a place on a lake that is on a snowmobile path in the winter. A lot times when we open up for the season someone has used our place. After the first few years we just started leaving it unlocked. No damage is ever done and usually there is a note and a couple of times money lol. I like to think that after 27 years the regulars keep an eye on it for us so if someone were to move in there they would be suspicious and check into it

18 years dumb.

The cops really wanted to get him since he was charged for statutory rape. Wonder why the parents didn't??

Is it just me or does he look like a serial killer. Vacant looking gaze, creepy. How in the hell did he think that he was going to get away with this? Parents all but whored their 15 year old out. Wow.

He looks like Jonathan Rhys Myers. Who I'm surprised hasn't killed anybody yet either.

Reminds of that Scorsese movie "The King Of Comedy."

"Canada's version of statutory rape" is a highly salacious phrase. It makes me think that there must be something intensely different about it, like it involves fries with gravy or something.

Sue Ellen Mishkey said...

Well, it didn't happen in Canada, so its America's version of statutory rape.

isn't it hard to evict squatters? seems like i've read stories like this and it took the owners months.

I actually find it more odd that the girlfriend/parents moved into this lake house vs. the fact the kid lied about it.

And isn't there a city in California, called Ontario?

Sue Ellen Mishkey said...

^yup yup. That's why ontario canada is an important part of google-fu

RocketQueen said...

@Barton - more like gravy, fries and cheese curds ;)

This is ripe for a movie script.

This wouldn't have been a statutory rape in Ontario, Canada. I don't know all the particulars but I do know that if the girl is 15 there must be more than 5 years between the ages (i.e. he can't be older than 20). If he is under 20 it is not considered statutory rape.

I agree with the person who said it sounds like a movie just waiting to be made. Did you guys see that the barefoot bandit isnt allowed to sell his story, by law? I wonder if they will put the same restrictions on this guy

Char said...

Actually, the age of consent in Canada is 14. (for vaginal sex, it's 16 for anal - don't even get me started on that discrepancy)

So, I'm not sure of the particulars of this case, but they must of had some information that these two have been having sex since the girl was 13, or the details are incorrect.

@surfer

There is a city named Ontario in California (I don't live too far away), but it is in San Bernardino County. There is no Ontario County.

@Char - that is so weird!!

It happened in Bristol NY, on the shore of Canandaigua lake, where the property taxes are higher than anywhere else in the country.
Bristol NY is in Ontario county. Its also near Lake Ontario. If you cross Lake Ontario, you'll be in the providence of Ontario Canada.

Oh and they were only there for an hour before the owners showed up. Its not uncommon in upstate NY to find that your summer home or hunting cabin has been lived in while you were away. Friends of ours found their garbage full of diapers and their food all gone. Another friend found someone sleeping in her camper in her driveway.
