What is not being talked about by anyone in any tribute is how this amazing B+ list mostly movie actress from a family of families when it comes to acting has been using a lot on and off the past six months and was warned something like this would happen unless she stopped.

It has been reported in several different places that Carrie Fisher relapsed.
It's been reported . And furthermore Carrie never claimed to be perfectly sober did she? Why drag her through the mud? She's dead and paid the ultimate price for her choices.
In a humorous way.. referring Carries book; 'Postcards from the edge'.. shows the mother daughter normal but difficult relationship together. I think devotedly concerned mom Debbie followed soon after to gently explain things for her beloved wayward daughter at the Pearly Gates and promise she would help the child with rehab and to be more serious about her actions, however the place looks so wonderful and you can't possibly mess up her, yet.. she was always interfering, refereeing while riding shotgun for her daughter, giving hints, excuses, encouragement with witty-snarky putdowns in a funny, true running gag in that crazy life, when to stop and enjoy her rest?
Carrie had been working a lot more with the Star wars movie and book tours, some of her old triggers probably came back. She regretted bringing up the Harrison Ford affair, since that was all anyone talked about. All addicts will relapse, Enty always knocks people who do, while bragging about his supposed drinking ability. Carrie was an addict since she was a teen, and was predesposed since birth, she never had a chance to be a social drink and drug user.

Jeez, let the lady rest in peace instead of acting all high and mighty. RIP Carrie and Debbie.
Not sure what form the relapse took, but she said earlier this month that she was pressured to lose 35+ lbs for "The force Awakens".
I wonder how long it took her to lose the weight. Fast weight lost can put added pressure on the heart. She gained quite a bit and it was all around her abdomen which is indicative of heart issues as well on females. Fast weight loss, then drugs, and possible alcohol to boot. On top of that her career was surging and those London / LA flights are no joke. I think that was just way too much for a weakened heart to take.
Debbie had her history of strokes and at 84 it's not as much a surprise she would pass, however, her death would have probably sent Carrie on a worse spiral. Either one's demise would have profoundly affected the other. It's so sad.

cracks me up when alcoholics look down on people with mental illness who relapse back into drugs.

That's right, it's the one in your glass enty. Alcohol. Do you think people show up to the bar thinking in their head alcohol is a drug? No, because there are billions behind it.
Hope you or anybody else with a whiskey in hand and selfrighteousness doesnt need a liver transplant.

the large amounts of cocaine she did in the 80's were a ticking timebomb.

Why she died and whether she relapsed in the end isn't what's important. People are complicated, and I'd rather focus on the big picture of her life and contributions -- and not judge her based on some of her lowest moment(s). She was a survivor and picked herself up many times despite the odds being against her. That's what I'll remember. Mad respect, Carrie.
Go to any E.R./A+E on a fri/sat night and see the real damage alcohol does. Frightening.
I think no one mentions it, but everyone knows and just doesn't care. A crazy personal life is so minor considering all she has done for girls, people with addiction and mental illness. I feel the same way about George Michael, who cares that he hit on a cop in a public bathroom...look at all the charity he did under the radar, if you put the good deeds on one side of a scale and the bad on the other it wouldn't even be close. People aren't perfect, most of us are lucky to not have our every move watched and reported on.
Bipolar people are very impulsive. When she was on meds she got really fat and was unhappy about it then she suddenly slimmed down to nothing so I kinda suspected she got some aderall or something to help with that.

The long flight caused a blood clot that ended up in her heart and caused the heart attack.
On a long flight, exercise legs and arms hourly.
I'm agreeing that the directors/producers of the Star Wars franchise put too much emphasis on her weight, demanding that she drop 30+ lbs to recur her role. And she met their demands. The fastest way to lose that much weight is on the stem-fast diet. And it's well known that post menopausal women have far more heart attacks due to the lack of estrogen with all the craziness over no HRT anymore. And there's far more heart issues occurring in people that a great deal, and some relate it to the radiation permeating the upper atmosphere post-fukushima, and also from a london to lax flight is a long long flight.

She was open and honest with her struggles. To gossip about what she went through is disrespectful, cold and classless. She paid the utlimate price, as others with these diseases have. Do we trash those who have passed on from Cancer, NO. Addiction is a terrible disease that those who have it struggle with on a daily basis. Not only Carrie Fisher, who is also a mother. But how many of us personally have known or know of someone who struggles with bipolar or addiction on a daily basis. Some blind items should not be reported on. Carrie Fisher worked hard to discuss the stigma of bipolar and addiction. Let us focus on that. Let us not focus on a possibility that she may have had a relapse. May she and her mother finally have peace.
If she was " open" about her struggle, this means that she thought it was worthy to share her story, and MAYBE help someone else..why then we should be silent after her death? I liked her, she was blunt, smart, funny and i think she hated hypocrisy.Perhaps if she read this blind about her she would have commented with a witty retort. Sadly, not everyone in this site can do that.

Forgot all the drug talk. Cigarette smoking could have been a factor, cigarette smoking, all by itself. Everyone in Hollywood smokes--keeps people thin, something to do instead of eating. Wear support socks that go to the knee on any flight. And, exercise daily. Walking is fine.
I thought it poignant reading in some online post that Carrie and her Mom were the major loves of eac other's lives. There was much to admire about both of them.
Hearing drug stories, in vocal, stand up, talk show style or in written form are mostly compelling for people who are current or former user addicts themselves. I'm sure she did a great service by talking about mental illness and drug addiction in a way that helped many. She put her celebrity to good use but sad if she contributed to her own demise. She had more to give.
