Today's Blind Items - The Woman In Her Life
What do you do if you are an A+ list mostly movie actress who is an Academy Award winner/nominee and you fall in love? You go out, you show them off, you be happy. Not this actress. She has always lived a closeted life. Those closest to her know. She has gone out with guys and even has had sex with them and once even married one, but it is just not her thing. She landed some of the hottest guys in the world. Well, it looked like it from the outside. About 14 months ago she fell in love. Quickly. The woman in question does not have any kids. Young. Yeah, kind of a lot young. College aged young. Still going to college but living with our actress. She does not get to go out much with the actress unless she is pretending to be something she is not. Our actress is in love but refuses to come out. She thinks fans and the roles she gets will disappear. I think everyone likes to think it wouldn't happen to her, but it would. So, she stays closeted. She is happy though which is great for her. She just feels for her partner who wants to be happy and free.

And she's right, sadly, with her image and demographic of her fanbase, she'd be toast.

I don't agree that the coming out will affect her career, rn not that much ,sure some years ago it would have happend, but now, realistically, i think LEADING romantic roles are already not for her anymore, the roles for her and women of her age are already reduced, AND the kind of roles she could land now may not be impacted by her coming out.It's sad, though.
It's not that studios, directors, etc. would want to stop working with her, you are correct in that her type of roles has shifted. But if her fanbase, which is generally perceived to be more conservative types stopped paying to see her films, then she'd be offered less and less leading roles in quality films.

Mind you, before Obama was elected, i thought if the USA would be ready for a black president, i was not sure, it turns out, i was wrong, so, who knows, maybe we understimate how people are maybe wayyy more open mind or simply more practical than we think?
Sounds like Sandra. Let's face it, there aren't that many A+ female stars. If she did come out I think that would be a problem for her in the sense that she is "America's sweetheart" and has massive appeal in homophobic flyover country.
With all her money, she doesn't really need to work anymore. She made $70 million on Gravity alone. But I guess it's hard in your early 50s to throw in the towel and retire.
I agree with The Dude. Her fan base and movie rolls are not targeted for certain demographics. i don't like her anyways---she seems like a real phony.
Totally Bullock. I wish more actors had the power and spine to just come out. Witnessing what just happened to Cate Blanchett, who in the past has come out as bisexual, and how she just had to walk back her statements after Cannes, I really wonder how much of this is fear of the public versus the studios forcing their talent back into the closet.
So in other words she cares more about fame and fortune than her partner's happiness?

Why does she need more money? I know no one can ever have enough, but shouldn't love and happiness trump that when you're already a millionaire?
Why the hell do we need to know her sexuality? That's her business. And if her partner can't handle it then maybe she's not the right one for her. Maybe her girlfriend wants fame? If so, that's not good.
Eh, I think Sandy's days of being A+ and America's Sweetheart are over anyway. She has so much money she doesn't need to work those big studio projects anyway. Just come out.
The idea that movie audiences won't "buy into" a gay person acting in a straight role is absurd (both the idea AND the fact that yes it does happen). Like do they not know what acting is? They unintentionally buy into it every single day, yet run screaming when the truth is revealed. Our society is full of so many stupid people, it just bewilders me.
Look if you're gay you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. How many people get killed simply because they're heterosexual? Yet keeping sexuality private is also used as an excuse to attack someone. So I don't judge if someone does or doesn't admit to their sexuality, but it's nice to have another cool gay person to make up for the Calvin Klein and Rosie's of the world. (Personally I thought Rosie was very pleasant when I met her but her public image is pretty hostile).
@WhattheWhat, I certainly don't care and it would be nice if no one cared but she knows the business and is making the best choice.
@SallyFM, she needs to work, not for money but it's an important part of her life.
I can't believe that this woman is living with SB and the paps haven't got a pic of her.

Can't be sandy she has Leo her darling little boy and it says she has no kids . I am going to guess Jennifer Anniston or Renee zellwiger
Ok my bad I re read the post and it's an academy winner so Anniston is out but Zellweger still works and so does Hillary Swank so there's my best guess .
There are many people who post on this site who like to view the world as one giant stereotype. Southerners are racists. Mid-westerners are homophobes. Christians are Nazi's. It's sad that their world view is so stunted, but there's no point in reasoning with them. They think holding those sort of opinions means that they're enlightened, and it's easier for them than actually being thoughtful.
No question this is supposed to be Sandra B. I thought she had moved to Austin and was living quite happy (and openly) there? Is she back in L.A. full-time?

I'm not sure why Sandy's even trying so hard to keep appealing to her particular "fan base". She certainly doesn't need the work, and if she wanted to she could create her own projects. I question the logic of anyone who thinks that career should win out over living a genuine life, especially when money's taken out of the equation.
So Sandy's adopted child Louie doesn't count as her having any children??? that's messed up.

Hmm. If the girlfriend is college age, that's a pretty big May-December romance which would be as hard to swallow as Stephen Fry marrying his 20 year old husband. Looks very lopsided.
And if you were 50 and had a gf who was 20, wouldn't you be wondering a little if the person was a gold digger? Maybe she doesn't come out because she doesn't completely trust the gf. Frankly, I wouldn't. Kids that age can be very unstable.
@OhNo haha seriously ALM? She calls them herself. Amal probably does too. I wouldn't be surprised if at this point ALM has to pay the paps to take her picture, she hasn't had any substantial work in years and no one cares.
SB could definitely get away with this with the power of the purse alone. Add in that she's calm, collected and generally pleasant to people, and there's a hell of a lot fewer people who'd sell her out for less cash than and can afford. For the pap, is it worth it to potentially piss off America's Sweetheart just to sell their pics for less money to a mag that she'll pay off anyway? For the mag, is it worth the negative backlash and consequences to out America's Sweetheart against her wishes?
And IF this is SB, maybe she's worried about her kid? Maybe she's waiting until Louis is old enough to handle being the interracial adopted son of an openly gay A actress? I can personally vouch that the first to are tough enough without either of the last two. {apologies for the novel}

" I think there is a silent rule, in Hollywood , even for papz and the rule is " DO NOT OUT PEOPLE" the outing people is different from, say, discover secret affairs , i think that if you break this rule you are likely OUT of that world.or things become more difficult.Think about Bomer, his private life til the coming out was not a secret for a lot of people, yet nobody talked about it publicly til HE did it. When Perez outed NPH ( it was him, i think ?) he got a lot of backlash, from that, and if i am not wrong he apologized or something like that.
She may "need the work" because it's truly what she loves to do. It might not be about the money but the work and doing something that fulfills you.
