How Can You Boycott Something You Have Never Seen?

Look, I think most of the readers here would agree that the only thing we care about in the new 90210 are the old 90210 people. Let the old 90210 people do their thing and have the camera cut to the new people having sex or working or going to school just so we know they are alive, and move back to the old cast.

But, we don't really know what the show will be like. Hell, we all might love it or hate it or wish that Donna would be forced to work at The Peach Pit because she has eight kids to raise by herself. Of course since Tori Spelling can't get along with the people in charge, this is unlikely to happen and she will watch from the sidelines and then go sell some more jewelry on HSN, and try and convince the world that Dean really does love her and not just the money.

Anyway, no one has seen the show. No one. No critics, no one. So, how in the hell does the Parent's Television Council get it in their head that advertisers should boycott the show? How can you call for a boycott if you don't know what the hell you are going to see? For all they know, the new 90210 could take place in a church and they all devote themselves to good works and ridding the world of Spencer Pratt.

I think what happens is the group looks for potential boycott announcements, because it is the only way they get attention. Someone picked 90210, and they called for a boycott. Then whoops. The press showed up and asked them how they had seen the show when no one else in the world had, and they realized they might have a teensy problem.

Instead of just taking a wait and see attitude, they just said it was the network and it is evil and that it should be punished for the sins of Gossip Girl. Uh huh.

Good luck on that. How many people actually belong to that Council anyway, and what do you get for joining? Do they have a monthly newsletter? I love newsletters. I have a feeling they sell their mailing list though, and, I'm guessing they are not selling it to Emily's List. Do you get a sticker that says, I don't watch television that people put in their cars so people can laugh at them and their kids can be humiliated in school because they have no idea what exactly a Fairly Odd Parent is?

I actually think they are worried because they noticed there is one black guy, but no black girl and that he will have his way with Lori Loughlin. Maybe not.

Idiots. If they'd waited a day, they could've had this to justify themselves:

Actress Jennie Garth won't be letting her young children watch her new Beverly Hills, 90210 spin-off - because the new show is far racier than the original. When Garth first played rich kid Kelly Taylor on 90210, the show was family viewing, but she fears the new-look series is far too raunchy for pre-teens.

She says, "My kids are by no means ready to watch this 90210."

And co-star Lori Loughlin admits she's often left red faced by her racy scenes with onscreen husband Rob Estes.

She explains, "I blush all day long."

Meanwhile, Estes adds, "(We're not) a mom and dad who are home eating bon bons. It's a couple who's #$%@ing! We'll clear the kitchen so fast (to have sex), you don't know what to do with yourself."

Bmini, this is the first time I've felt there might be hope for this show apart from the old crew's cameos.

mmmmmmmmmm Rob Estes. I was in love with him on Silk Stalkings. Seriously. it was my dads favorite show (after STUDS). he was on an SVU repeat last night.

the only reason I'm (not even seriously) boycotting (its more like i don't really care) 90210 is Shanae Grimes. She was the worst part of the last 2 seasons of Degrassi TNG.

back to Rob Estes. i could see him being super rough during sex, in that beefcake horrible porn way. And I like it.

oh boy...I never watched the first one and wasn't going to watch this one but now that I know Rob is on...and they are clearing tables...OH BOY....when does it start?????

lol Julie, and everyone else in here.

Julie, I don't watch Degrassi, but she has one of the worst cases of bitchface I've ever seen. If Skinemax were a show instead of a network, it would be Silk Stalkings.

A: 3. And a nice pen.

The show's publicists probably alerted Parent's Television Council to the salacious bits in the show hoping this would raise their ire and have them call for a boycott. Free publicity!!!

When will boycotters learn...when you try to boycott something it draws MORE people to watching/reading/doing it.

Case in point: Harry Potter.
They tried to band it from America right before book 4 came out. Book four is when it became super popular. Coincidence? NOT!

I have to admit I loved the old 90210. Brenda! Dylan! Kelly! I don't know if I will watch, but I do love me some Jessica Walter. I have e-mailed Enty to include her in the random photos, but so far, I haven't seen her. Maybe soon since the show is coming on.
