Kid Rock Helps A Wounded War Hero

Whatever you might think about Kid Rock's music or his obsession with marrying Pamela Anderson all those times, one thing that has always been consistent with him is his love for the military and the families of the military. Over the weekend a soldier who lost his leg in Afghanistan was presented with a custom built house which will be finished by early next year. The soldier and his new wife also received another surprise, a visit from Kid Rock. Kid helped out with the donation of the home, but did not want any attention from that. Kid would have shown up whether there were cameras or not, but wanted to show the soldier that he cared and also wanted to deliver the good news about the home in person.

I love him. Great to see some positive things being touted instead of the Waffle House scuffles.

  4. That's pretty awesome. I've never cared for him much, because I just can't wait the whole WT schtick. Same reason I can't get into any of the Blue Collar Comedy guys. He always came off as kind of a disaster to me, so I'm glad to see he's a legit human. Good on you!

  5. And this is one of many reasons I love the Kid.

  6. I saw him at a club before he made it big. He was down to earth and just walking around and talking to people before he went on. Really cool guy.

  7. Love it! I swear, if I was rich, I'd do this sort of thing. Yeah, because it's the right thing to do, but also because it would be so damn fun! I love nothing more than being a Secret Santa and making someone's day on the QT - it's a blast :-).

  8. I haven't met him, but I've met his sister several times. Their family is really nice, so this doesn't surprise me.

  9. He lives in my hometown, I haven't personally met him but from what I hear he is super nice and just wants to be treated like a local. He donated a bunch of money to our parks and charity events.

  10. He always sounds like a good egg. Not my cup of tea musically (usually), but a good egg nonetheless.

  11. He does great things for his state and for Detroit, we love him <3 Everyone who meets him says he's a really nice guy, too.

  12. Don't care much for him, but this story warms the cockles of my heart. Glad to see someone who found good fortune giving back to those in need. And, he seems to have clean hair in that picture...double bonus!

  13. @Jdwg--You must be from Clarkston? You probably know my husband. :) He's from Clarkston, too. Kid Rock really is so down to earth. There are a couple restaurants in downtown Clarkston (one I believe he partially owns called The Union), and he's always hanging out, sitting at the bar, always so friendly and if you had no idea who he was he would just be a normal local. Nice guy.

  16. I had the pleasure of hanging out with Kid Rock a couple of times back before he "hit it big." He is a genuinely nice guy. This doesn't surprise me at all. It just reinforces what I already knew of him.

If you want to explore some of his hop-hop stuff, The Polyfuze Method is one of the greatest albums ever IMO.

  17. FSP- LOVE IT! Where did you get that? I have a feeling my pit bull would love to chew on Michael Vick.

My first crush LOVED Kid Rock when we were in like 3rd grade. I was always like..."Who is that?" As I grew older I started to know who he was and always thought he was a nice person. So now, every time I hear a song of his, I am reminded of my first crush, who I haven't seen since 5th grade.

  28. @rejectedcarebear, you can buy a horse ball. They come in medium and large and are made for horses. I use to buy them for my shar pei/pit bull mix. Then I got a large one for my Mastiff. They loved them. Try tractor supply or any animal catalog.

  29. ^^ that's what I thought.. Good to hear though.

  30. LOVE it @FSP! What a PERFECT dog toy! You were right. New avi is very cute!!!

@carebear - I have a German Shepard, probably second to Pit Bull's in bite strength. This eating machine destroys everything I give him. I get marrow bones from the butcher for him to chew on. Then when he eats out the middle, I fill them with wet dog food and freeze them. I know bones are bad for teeth but he can even destroy the black Kongs. The dog must chew!

  34. Very nice of Kid to do this. Not a lot of people care to help others and he seems to be willing to go out of his way to help.

One question? What is that hanging off the back of his pants?

  35. Haven't read the aricle or any comments, 1st i have to ask: WTF is on his ass???

  36. I thought that thing was a tape measure or something, I dunno. Ive always heard good things about him too but, I wish he would bathe. At least his hair looks clean here.

Everyone I know from Detroit has nothing but good things to say about that guy.

I hate to admit it but I have a strange secret crush .. He seems like the type that would always keep you laughing. I would never admit this in real life!!

  38. So, so nice of the Kid!

  39. I hate his music, but he looks freakishly like my cousin from my Ohio and he seems like a dude who generally means well.

  44. I have known people who have met him. He was really nice and hung out with fans until his body guard told him he needed to leave. I have always had a soft spot in my heart for his cute red neck ass. :)

I think he's a cutie !! And he seems genuinely nice, so it's good to know that it's not an act.

He did an interview on Howard Stern a few years back and spoke at length about his disastrous marriage to Pam Anderson. It was pretty clear she was, in his opinion, very into $$$$ .
