As is the case whenever something like this happens, the bottom feeders come out of the woodwork almost immediately. In this scenario, it's worse than ever.
A local has stepped forward to exploit the tragedy like a fast growing parasite. This person is an alleged convicted felon who has supposedly spent time in prison. They are thirsty for cash and clout.
Meanwhile, the single mother is being harassed and accused of unspeakable and untrue things. Trolls are doxing and making threats online. The worst offenders are allegedly a jealous local resident and an unhinged fan in Europe.
This story is far from over though. Some recent local developments may turn the narrative in a new direction. If true, the revelations will be a mind blowing plot twist.
