Shailene Woodley?
That's......odd to me. Unless this is worded in a purposely deceiving way, I really don't think she was doing it for attention and publicity. I DO think this is supposed to be her though.
My late husband's kids live on Standing Rock. While married and living on an adjacent reservation, I remember hearing all the horror stories from members of the tribe about white celebrities coming to visit with film crews and photographers. They resent like hell being reduced to photo ops by people like Marlon Brando and the like. This is sad to read, whomever made this statement. The Lakota know the white man could care less about them and their lives.
It isn't Shailene, she doesn't have any new movies that were recently released, next thing on IMDb for her is a movie that was just announced. Also, this blind doesn't specify that the actress was AT Standing Rock, just that she was spent time protesting FOR Standing Rock.
Out of actresses who did protest but were not at Standing Rock with movies recently out, there is Michelle Rodriguez (Fate of the Furious) and Rosario Dawson (Unforgettable). I think it's Rosario, Michelle seems much more down to earth and a person who would actually care about the Standing Rock cause. Rosario, though, seems much more to participate in a social cause to help her image.
Oh. Wow. I'm so speechless I feel compelled to comment on how fucking speechless I am.
Does this jerk know how hard it is for some people in the country where I come from to try to bring attention to the indigenous people in the country I currently live in without having to worry about being labelled "sympathetic to a separatist group"?
I was going to guess Riley Keough, but Rosario Dawson's movie did just come out over the weekend (Keough's most recent movie came out three weeks ago).
Definitely Rosario Dawson
Rosario "Nerds think my frog eyes are hot" Dawson.
