Beckhams Saying Bye Bye To The US?
Something shady is going on over at the Beckham's house. Maybe they are just tired of those 3am phone calls from Tom Cruise asking if he can come over and tell them some exciting news. Maybe they are tired of having to smile all the time and of all the bright sunshine. Maybe they realize that the Beckham name has taken a big nosedive since they have been here. Whatever the reason, it seems as if the Beckhams are going to be giving up the States and head back to Europe.
As you know they came here so David could play for the LA Galaxy. I mean I guess Victoria could have played as well. I mean the teams sucks so bad that it really would not have made a difference if she played every game, they still would have lost. So, with David playing for an awful team and everything Victoria touching here in the US turning into horrible business decisions, it may be time. David is training with AC Milan right now and there is a report today that LA is going to loan him to AC Milan beginning in January. Umm, Beckham is like 100 in soccer years. You don't loan a guy out who is 100 and expect him to be fit for your season. What this is going to end up being is Beckham saying bye bye to the US, and the whole family moving back to Europe. Milan? Come on. You don't think Victoria would like a year or two there? You are kidding yourself.
I'm sure they will say this was an opportunity too good to pass up. It must have been something because David will be leaving many millions on the table here. Of course, if he keeps selling products like those fish sticks it won't really matter how much he gets paid to play soccer/football.

I don't think we'll be rid of them that easy. According to OMG website he'll be gone for a couple of months in January. What's to stop him from making money in the U.S. and Italy? The Beckhams appear to be very greedy people and I think this is his opportunity to make money off of both countries.
Just look at them Posh is selling perfume, clothes, cd's etc. and David is paid $125 million over 5 years to play soccer, he has his own cologne, sells fishsticks(?) etc. There is nothing these two won't do for money. It's greed. They'll be back to make more money off of the U.S.
But yes I do wish their family would leave the U.S. never to be heard from again!
It's that since of entitlement that they seem to expect from the U.S. That they can come here and we would fawn over them and give them all of our money just because we seem to love the English.

and i'm not sure it's a sense of entitlement as much as the expectation that fans would be the same as they were in the u.k., but the fan base here for soccer is much smaller, so the coming of the great one was just a blip on the screen.

THAT sounds like entitlement to me! IMO.
AC Milan are one of the top clubs in Europe, and maybe David just wants a chance to play real football in front of huge partisan crowds. A footballer has to play in top-level matches to be picked for his country, and David will never get that in the US.
For people who say the Beckhams have failed in the US, you guys certainly know a lot about them.
Hate to be a party pooper, but the reason for the loan is clear, and has been clearly expressed by Beckham himself.
MLS is off-kilter season-wise from most of the world's soccer leagues, which typically run from September through May. The head of the English squad has stated that he's only going to use active (i.e. in-season) players in England's World Cup qualifiers, many of which take place over the winter, i.e. during the prime of the European pro league season.
Therefore, Beckham has to be playing actively during the EUROPEAN season to be named to the England team, which is one of his major priorities right now. MLS does not restart until the spring; therefore, the only way he will be eligible for the English team is to be loaned out to an active team. Hence, the AC Milan loan is to facilitate that.
There's no ulterior motive here. The Galaxy still retain his rights, and he'll be with them next season. And he's not as washed up as you seem to think -- he's still a relatively valuable asset for a high-level team.

Beckham is exceptional though- he's one of the fittest (in terms of health!) footballers playing ANYWHERE, still has a great right foot, and has experience which can be very useful when he's brought on in short doses. Plus, the italian game is much slower than EPL so he may be able to last longer in a game. He's showing his intent on remaining a competitive option for England national team duty too. The world cup is 2010, so I don't know about him playing, but he definately shows he still has the goods to be valuable to Englands qualifying campaign.

You see it as opportunity I see it as greed. Especially since the there are daily news reports of job loss and higher percentages of unemployment in the U.S. and yet the Beckhams have been paid millions of dollars to push God knows how many products this year alone.
And for jax and juicy OF COURSE you would promote fishsticks, sharpies etc. but YOU will NEVER be given this opportunity. It would be less of an annoyance for me if it was an American promoting all of this nonsense.

not on my dollar, i have concerns about our economy too, but paying that money to david beckham doesn't mean anyone else was being deprived of jobs or a better salary.

mooshki cleaning Shannen's bathroom will not pay the bills. Of course qualifying citizens should have first shot to high paying jobs before immigrants. As a matter of fact I know it is supposed to be a law in the U.S. However maybe there are some cases where that law isn't imposed. But, there is a law that says you have to give a reason why an immigrant provides better qualifications than a citizen for jobs. Again maybe it doesn't hold true for all jobs but yes it is there for some.
That may be the reason so many foreigners have the low paying jobs. Employers justify it by saying no one else wanted it, even though the wages are too low for anyone to support themselves.
It's a good loophole if you don't want to pay people a decent wage make the offer so low that they'll turn it down.
IF there is a law regarding the Becks many job opportunities I'm sure the loophole is that "no one else qualifies to sell like the Becks".

The English national team has a friendly against Spain in February. And Beckham was told he wouldn't be on the team cause he won't be on an active roster and hasn't played an international match in 16 months. The MLS ends this weekend and doesn't start until April.
