I honestly though that the opening day play by Mark Buehrle of the Chicago White Sox would be the best play in baseball all year. I was wrong. This one by a Fordham player is even better and very much worth your time even if you hate baseball.

Ladies, I am a die-hard Phillies fan. And that play weren't nothin' compared to the defensive BRILLIANCE of the Phillies last night against the Atlanta Braves: in particular, Shane Victorino's flying over-the wall catch to prevent a home run, and Ryan Howard's SPLIT to catch a ball and make the out at first. I love those guys.
Sweet move! Definitely safe too or catcher wouldn't have kept trying to tag him as he turned.
I just wonder what that coach was arguing about for so long. It was very clear the catcher didn't tag him. Even the players on the field were not paying attention, knowing a clean play when they see it.
Do not see how people do it. How many hours in the heat did people sit for that 30 seconds of action? For ever cool moment like that, there is about 1500 hours of people standing around, routine fly outs and pitchers taking lunch breaks between throws.
funny thing is that it is ALL that exciting to me, TFLive. Guess everyone has their things.

Pookie - the empty bleachers are actually for the football field - they are back to back. The baseball bleachers are on either side of where the camera is. (although those bleachers may have been empty, too...I don't know!)
But I'm loving all the love that Fordham is getting over this! This is great publicity, and we had great publicity when U2 visited us last year.
Count me in among the "live, eat, sleep" baseball crowd. I always tell people who ask me how I can like something so boring that it's not if you know what to look for. It's really a game of constant, albeit tiny, actions. A shift here, a step or two there. One pitch in this situation, another in that. Every single at-bat, and each pitch within it, is a tiny game unto itself. And then it starts all over again. And the story is different if someone is on base. And which base? Is he fast or slow? Is the batter left-handed or right? It's a game of choreographed details mixed with chance and athleticism. Like the ballet, only with hotter guys and more dirt.
But I digress.
Diehard Phillies fan here too. But after living in Chicago for 12 years, I developed a soft spot for the Cubs. Really, it's just all those drunken Friday afternoons I've spent at Wrigley that make me love them.

You have Halladay. I love him and miss him desperately. I actually got MLB extra innings just so I could watch the Phillies, as they are now my new favourite National League team (sorry, Mets). Anyway, he threw a hell of a game last night. You're so lucky.
Now I am baseball depressed :(
One of my husband's friends was sitting right behind home plate. No chance this kid was tagged, the catcher didn't know what was going on. Awesome play!
