RIP Bernard - may you pass on knowing that you enriched many lives.
You were one helluva actor.
And so another piece of Old Hollywood passes into history.
.
Some Like it Hot is one of my favourite movies, and I don't even like movies. Also, he was a complete babe in his youth.
Sad.
I kind of thought he'd live forever. He turned into such a fun old coot. For a brief moment in time Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh were the most glamorous couple in Hollywood. R.I.P.
I am sure now that he is dead we will be hearing some nasty stories about him.
@Sylvia- He's already told some nasty stories about himself and he has never claimed to be an angel. As long as Darwin Porter stays out of it everything will be ok.
Thank you for all the great memories, Tony. May you rest in peace. And say hi to Marilyn for all of us.
Let's hope the stuff about a certain child doesn't come popping up again.
This shocked me. He was such a great actor. I'm going to have to watch Some Like It Hot tonight in honor of him.(Say hello to Marilyn Monroe and Jack Lemmon from all of us fans of SLIH.)
Been a big month for death. RIP you handsome critter.
Oh no, this one was a real surprise, wasn't it. Thanks for all the wonderful movies, TC, you will be remembered and loved.
That second to last picture is hilarious :)
Can anyone tell me which movie the third to last picture is from?
Read that Some Like It Hot was supposed to be one of the greatest comedies ever a while back. Well it was way before my time, but I did catch it on AMC a few weeks back & laughed out loud many many times. I thought it was great! And very very funny in case there is anyone else out there who hasn't seen it yet. Worth watching.
@RocketQueen-That's from the Defiant One's
Bless him, he was hilarious! What a great actor. And he wore a dress better than most women. ;)
RIP and thanks for the great movies.
One of my faves as well...well deserved rest, dear heart.
Thanks Cheryl - heard of it but never seen it!
He was fabulous in The Sweet Smell of Success with Burt Lancaster. It's a great film.
@RocketQueen~Check out the Defiant Ones. Tony was nominated for an Oscar for this performance
aw, this is so sad! i read somewhere earlier this year that he wanted to get back in the game and start acting again - which would've been amazing!
rest in peace tony. you will be deeply missed.
I will always love the Great Race. Brandy - more brandy! RIP
Loved his small part in "Paris When it Sizzles" - I watch that movie just for him.
He was always for the most part, snubbed by the Academy, if you can believe that.
I had no idea he was a such a hottie! I know my mom loved Bernie Schwartz but I ne'er realised... AND the movies! I LOVE "Some Like It Hot" and "Operation Petticoat" (Cary... sigh!), but "The Great Race" for the win! Maybe that's why I always loved the old "Wacky Races" cartoon with Dick Dasterdly abd Myttley! I wanted to be Penelope Pitstop! Thoughts and peace to Tony's family and friends. Thanks for a LOT of great entertainment! RIP Tony!
AND... today is "The Flintstones" 50th anniversary -- I ne'er knew until today that it was really HIM voicing Stony Curtis!
RIP, Tony! I was fortunate enough to have interviewed him and met him a few years ago.
Here's the link: http://www.classicmovies.org/articles/aa031200a.htm
The interview was by phone, but I met him when he came to town and he was very sweet, very flirtatious and very appreciative (and not in a vulgar way) of my decolletage!
The next to last photo is just wonderful - shows his humor :)
Something many fans may not know is that he spent his last years rescuing horses on his Nevada ranch. His wife is going to continue his work in that regard.

Also, if you are in the Las Vegas area, his memorial service will be on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Palm Mortuary and is open to the public - his fans are welcome.
according to what my very conservative parents went on about back in the sixties, i believe he was black balled because of some drug charges (pot) and refused to apologize or some other nonsense.
that was the basic gist of it.
and he probably protested the war. heaven forfend!!
Ever get the chance watch the UK television series "The Persuaders" Tony and Roger Moore, sheer awesomeness. That and "The Avengers" raised me, LOL.
RIP Bernie, ya were a beauty.
@verylargecolt - that's very good to know :)
