Kristin Chenoweth Weighs 88 Pounds - Thinks She Is Fat

The photo above I posted earlier this week. It shows Kristin Chenoweth in a bikini in Mexico. The 44 year old actress weighs 88 pounds. I have eaten meals that are bigger than that. Despite weighing just 88 pounds, Kristin thinks she is fat. Yep. She says that she is fat because she can't stop eating junk food and that she sees things that I guess no one else sees. What bothers me is that she actually Tweets to the world that she is fat. It makes me wonder then if other people look at it with body issues and think they are fat too even when they are not because an 88 pound Kristin Chenoweth thinks she has a muffin top. Her word, not mine.

Or when I'm about to pop out a baby, like now. I wouldn't tweet pictures of myself in a bikini, though. Karen said...: Eating disorders are about control and finding perfection. One is never satisfied while anything about them isn't perfect. Any fat seems disgusting and it's an outward sign that you lack self-control--because if you had self-cotrol, you would stop eating to get rid of the fat.

Feeling your bones against your skin (instead of fat) becomes one of the best feelings in the world because you're winning over your body's desires. Sometimes starving yourself gets you to a point where hunger pangs feel GOOD.

I can't fast on Ash Wednesday/Good Friday anymore for this reason--it starts to feel so good that it isn't a sacrifice, but I also want to keep doing it.; 7:12 AM

Unless you're really willing to do those waist-whittling exercises, it's impossible to find pants that fit tight on a tiny ass without the waistband being too tight also.

Karen said...: And regarding being photographed in a bikini, when I was much deeper into my eating disorder, I was fine being in a bikini at the beach because even though I wasn't "perfect," I knew that I looked better than 90% of the other people at Ocean City, MD. In my mind, I looked okay--but I knew that I could be so much thinner/better. I saw myself like I was on a journey; when people complimented how I looked, I was motivated to lose more.

So, I don't know about Kristin Chenoweth. But I do know that eating disorders are not neat little packages--everyone deals with them differently and has different forms. Sure, she just might want attention, but she probably also has disordered thinking.; 7:24 AM

This chick looks fab but there's no way in hell she weighs 88 lbs. She would look like a prepubescent 4th-grader if she clocked in at 88. She's probably 95-105. And I say this as a shortie who is currently rocking a size zero. In a twist of irony: God gave me badunkadunk child-bearing hips in my early thirties when it was taking me 4 years to get a bun in the oven, and after busting out the bun in the oven I am literally 10 pounds less, which doesn't sound like a lot but it is when you are barely 5'2. And, I LOVE any reason to go shopping.

Regardless of age, I just find posting photos of yourself in a bikini to be SO tacky. If I had a daughter, my advice would be study hard, don't take shit from anyone and for the love of god do not post photos of yourself on the internets in swimwear or drunk off your ass.; 7:28 AM

At 4'11', 88lbs and a very active woman of 44 the BMI (Body Mass Index) says she is underweight by 4 lbs.

She has a BMI of 17.8 and a 'healthy BMI" for her height is 18.8-24.9.

She's fine!

Anyone can have a muffin top if your pants don't fit correctly.
I repeat - anyone.

It just means the pants/skirt/whatever is not cut correctly to your particular proportions.
The ways to solve muffin top =
#1 Discover which brands/designers cut for your particular proportions and only buy those items.
#2 Buy all items so that they fit your waist with a 1/4 inch of space so that the fabric "floats" around your waist - then get the hips fit at a tailor for $5 to $10 (depending on your area).

You will look slimmer, and you will look more put together/classier all around. :-); 10:05 AM

Why all of you think Hollywood is so different from the real world I'll never understand. It's just like the world outside Hollywood; some people are crazy, some people are sane, some people are a little of both. Some people are modest, some people have an ego, and some people are pretending to be modest. Some people are nice, some people are assholes, some people are a little of both. It's not any different from the "real world", some of the people with the biggest egos, some of the most fake people I've ever known weren't in show business at all. It's because pretending you are "just a big geek!" is a good way to get people to identify with you when they could not otherwise. Stars are rich, considered beautiful (usually), get free designer clothes and shoes... They need a way to keep "the little people" from hating them for all this, so they play the false modesty card. Goodnight said...: I'm 4"11-5"0 (depending on the day) and I have a very petite build. At my thinnest I was 90 pounds and I was underweight (with DD breasts, so I had similar boobage to hers). My ribs and hip bones were pretty obvious and my stomach was flatter than hers appears to be when I weighed 'more' than her. She is for sure skinny but she is not 88 pounds.

If she had genuine BDD she would not be posting pictures of her 'flaws' for the world to see, she would desperately try to cover them.

She just wants to be told how skinny and hot she still is. I used to kind of like her but after this I hate her.; 11:14 PM
jayjay said...: @Krissie You can disagree, but you're wrong. I'm not talking as an outsider, I'm talking as someone that's been in the business for a while. You said people pretend by saying "just a big geek!" I don't know about you, but when I was in school the kids in the theater department weren't considered cool by any stretch of the imagination. They were usually the outcast, and the ones that WERE attractive usually didn't realize it at the time so they didn't fuss with their hair or dress in the nicest clothes. So they didn't get noticed by most of the boys and/or girls.

If you actually got to know these people, outside of reading an interview or seeing them on a show, then you would see that a huge amount of them ACTUALLY ARE GEEKS! Yes, some people in the business are taking advantage of "geek culture" because they think it will get them some more jobs or more fans... but most of the people that say they're geeks actually are geeks. You seem to be basing a lot of this on the idea that we're considered "beautiful", so we must be faking our modesty when we say we were an ugly duckling in high school or that we're not really good looking. You're seeing the finished product, the touch ups, the professional makeup and hair stylist, the fashion consultant that's dressing you just right. When we wake up in the morning we don't have any of that... so what we see in the mirror is the "before" picture, and what we see is someone that's average looking at best. Go look online for the before and after shots of porn stars. It was recently on a number of websites. It shows you just how big a difference makeup and hair stylist make. Some of them are just down right UGLY in the before shots.

As for Wendy's point about "average" folk... the business attracts people that fell for a girl or guy in high school or college that was in the drama program, so they joined the school play to impress them. They then realized that it was a lot of fun to "pretend", so they decided to give it a shot. Plus, they realized that it pays a whole lot better than cleaning toilets! I said in the comments of another story that the actors guild now has something like 160,000 members. The average actor actually makes a little bit less than the average American worker makes. You're only hearing about 10 to 15 percent of the actors in this business. I actually think that number is really generous. Because 10 percent of 160,000 people is 16 THOUSAND... Do you really think that I wouldn't be able to pick any other industry in the world and not be able to find 10 to 15 percent that had an ego? That were falsely modest?

The bottom line is this, most of us know how lucky we are, so it's not false modesty because we think people won't like us. It's real modesty because we know that most of this business is based on luck more than anything else. And some of the biggest stars in Hollywood history haven't had anything resembling modesty, real OR false. Yet people have always showed up at the box office for them, and they still get work, they still are millionaires, they still are beloved and get awards.; 1:33 AM

AKM said...: @Wendy - Interestingly, Dr. Drew did an actual scholarly peer-reviewed study about the psychology of performers. (He IS a real doctor, after all.) I think he studied musicians/singers, actors, comedians, and maybe some other types of performers that I'm just forgetting. He found that they had EXTREMELY high rates of mood, personality, and substance abuse disorders.

The ones who had the highest off-the-charts rates? Comedians.

He talked about how he was in the process of gather the information, then a few months later he would talk about results that he was finding... I believe he eventually wrote a book about it with the other person he did the study with. It wasn't about mood, personality, and substance abuse disorders in celebrities... it was about narcissism in celebrities.

I don't recall him ever talking about a study he did where the comedians had the highest rates, but the narcissism study found that reality show people had ridiculously high narcissism. For his study he would have people that were guest on "Loveline" fill out the questionnaire before they left. Loveline could get a big name here or there, but most of the time they had musicians, reality show people, and actors that were the third lead in a semi-popular sitcom or drama. I think they also used to get people that are now a big name, but most of the time it was D or C celebrities. I'd love to read the stuff you're talking about though... it sounds interesting. I've known several comedians in my life, and a lot of them are horribly depressed, they drink a fair amount, and a couple that I've known died from drugs (Mitch Hedberg, Greg Giraldo, Chris Farley) it has always been bizarre to me that the people who make use laugh or ass off, who help us forget our troubles and put a smile on our face, couldn't seem to find happiness in their own lives.; 6:50 AM
AKM said...: Ah, you are correct. I thought the study was more inclusive, but it was just measuring narcissistic personality disorder. Here's the abstract:

"We used the Narcissistic Personality Inventory (NPI) to assess the degree of narcissism among celebrities. Results indicate that celebrities are significantly more narcissistic than MBA students and the general population. Contrary to findings in the population at large, in which men are more narcissistic than women, female celebrities were found to be significantly more narcissistic than their male counterparts. Reality television personalities had the highest overall scores on the NPI, followed by comedians, actors, and musicians. Further, our analyses fail to show any relationship between NPI scores and years of experience in the entertainment industry, suggesting that celebrities may have narcissistic tendencies prior to entering the industry."

Guess I was slightly off about the comedians, too, as reality stars were the most likely to have NPD or traits thereof. Go figure. ;-)

Thanks for doing all of the leg work AKM, I always thought of narcissism as thinking that you are good looking. My experience in Hollywood has been that a ton of the "good looking" people don't think they're good looking at all. But I guess they still think they're better looking than "regular" folk.; 8:16 AM
