Roy Rogers Was A Freak

My first encounter with Roy Rogers was at his namesake restaurant. I don't even know if they exist anymore. I can't remember seeing one for a long time but I remember they had this apple pie dessert with cheese on it and I liked it. I have no real recollection of their hamburgers or fries, but I'm sure I ate them too. It was not until later that I knew about his movie career with his wife Dale Evans or that he stuffed his favorite horse and even had a museum featuring the horse and his life on the way to Vegas. I don't think the museum is there anymore either. All that is left are books and a new one says that Roy was a freak. Roy loved hookers the entire time he was alive and that he and Linda Lovelace had some very rough sex. She was the star of Deep Throat and says that Roy paid her $300 and they had sex with a hooker and that Roy did a ton of spanking.. Considering that must have been in the 70's, Roy was not exactly a spring chicken then and Linda says that he was in his 60's. The book also claims that Roy had sex with Marilyn Monroe. Has every actor from the 50's had sex with Marilyn Monroe? It seems like it. The only thing Roy did not have sex with was his horse Trigger. Probably.

This title is hyperbole.

More like..
"Roy Rogers was an adult human with sexual urges."

I understand people are interested, but still.....yawn.

crila16 said...

I agree with libby...BIG yawn. At least he kept his sexual urges strictly to adults. I don't see anything wrong with it.

Meanie Rhysie said...

Yeah, Libby, ITA. I would hardly call a ton of spanking 'very rough sex', but I'm sure someone, somewhere is clutching their pearls.

Mama June said...

What's up with putting cheese on apple pie? I don't get that.

LottaColada said...

Roy Rogers still exists! I saw one on the thruway once on my way to NYC.

Lucas said...

@Libby - exactly. I sometimes wonder in Entward was raised in a fundamentalist household, or is just pandering to those who would be shocked, SHOCKED!, to hear Roy Rogers liked getting a lot of fresh ass and was willing (and able) to pay for it.

FSP said...

Roy Rogers and donkey shows ala Kinky Kelly and the Sexy Stud!

Meanie Rhysie said...

Thank you, Curly Hair Slacker! Putting cheese on apple pie definitely makes me clutch MY pearls! Anyone care to explain the cheese on apple pie? I think it's gag-worthy.

Betsy said...

I'm totally clutching my pearls. And yawning.

Seachica said...

I'm totally clutching someone else's pearls. Oh, wait.

Ms Cool said...

My mom will still be crushed, no matter how tame.

FSP said...

I think I just gave myself an idea for my next avi.

libby said...

You guys are so funny.

I admit is IS odd to imagine childhood heroes, like (my hero) Mr. Rogers or Captain Kangaroo, gettin' it on.

I will just leave you all with those mental images, maybe a suggestion of imagining what their 'dirty talk' would be like. I'll just drop that right here.

Lucas said...

@FSP - What? Kelly can be a guy's name. LOVE. IT.

Agent**It said...

Cheddar cheese and hot apple pie..oh, my.

"Happy trails to you, until we meet again"....we used to sing that at work when a co worker retired.

Henriette said...

At least he wasn't screwing his horse, stuffed or alive.

Anonymous said...

OH my goodness, a sixty year old man likes spanking and screwed Marilyn Monroe when he got the chance? Kinky!

Laura said...

Chesse and fruit complement each other, like grapes or apples on a cheese plate or quince and Montego cheese.

LottaColada said...

@FSP, Please no donkeys

LottaColada said...

@Laura - I loooove montego cheese but what is quince?

OKay said...

Well, I'm sure any Roy Rogers fan would be old enough to be shocked by his behaviour. He had a clean-cut image and stayed with his wife until the end, but he was also putting it (roughly!) to hookers on the side and that's kind of sad. We're just all so jaded because we know that Hwood isn't all sweetness and light, but I guarantee you that my People-loving friend would be horrified to know the truth.

sandybrook said...

Next Enty will tell us Gene Autry was a freak who screwed Dale Evans behind Roy's back because she was a freak who liked it in the behind or something.

Ms Cool said...

It is shocking because oh his and Dale's very, very wholesome image. Plus, they were super religious.

I didn't know this guy even existed, but his banger-happy attitude makes him awesome.

The Real Dragon said...

I don't know who he is but Anyone who smash Marilyn monroe is okay on my book!

Laura said...

@Lotta quInce is a fruit that is often made into a jelly and it is sooooo good with Montego! Excellent tapas dish.

All about Eve said...

I'm shocked!!! Completely shocked!!! That Enty doesn't know there's still Roy Rogers on the NJ Turnpike rest stops! And he calls himself a foodie!!

Meanie Rhysie said...

I may get flamed for this, but oh well...it's because he was allegedly squeaky clean and religious that I'm not surprised.

Oh, and I love cheese and fruit together...just not on apple pie!

Patty said...

Yet another book throwing accusations at a dead person who cannot defend themselves. Big effen deal. And let's put Marilyn in there too while we're at it. Just another of many books of this nature. Yawn indeed.

And the burgers and fries were good. I remember going to the restaurant at the mall about 20 years ago.

LottaColada said...

@Laura, wow I'll have to look into that! Thanks!

Kloie said...

Keep your cheese pie to yourself. Enty.

LottaColada said...

@Allabouteve, yes! I'm pretty sure that's where I saw it. Enty is in LA so he gets a pass. I'm sure In-N-Out preoccupies his fast food searches more than anything.

Every fast food joint should have a Fixin's Bar.

Izzie said...

@Meanie - yes, if I said something like this to my gran, her blood pressure would go up a zillion notches. (Then it would come down and she'd say something like, "I knew that boy was up to something.")

I adore sharp cheddar on a granny smith apple... mmm...

ZORBITOR said...

Clutch MY pearls😜

Kelly said...

@Count Word.

Agent**It said...

You use sharp cheddar cheese (Vermont for us) and serve it WITH hot apple pie. Delicious.

Unknown said...

I doubt this is true. Easy to make allegations about a dead person who can't defend themselves. Enty why don't you address this instead saying you're not an entertainment lawyer. Could you please provide some input?http://www.nypost.com/p/news/opinion/opedcolumnists/blind_items_X90W22a56Zl3O5RnjTvhsL

FSP - my eyes can not handle donkey love. Please NO. I beg of you!

I loved me some Roy Rogers hot roast beef back in the day!!!

Guess some others did too!

D Brown said...

I think that there is a "biography" of Linda Lovelace by Darwin Porter that has just been issued and contains this item. However I must warn you that Porter's books are unattributed and always about dead (i.e. non-suing) celebrities. Frankly this item is unusual for him inasmuch as his usual storyline is that all Hollywood guys are gay and all Hollywood women are lesbians. Now Roy Rogers and Gabby Hayes - that's a Darwin Porter book.

Gayeld said...

@Curly. neither do I. But since I don't like either of them, it gets them both out of my way.

Roast Beef sandwiches ...yum

Oh, hai, a troll.

Snort @ dia!

Now I want a hot roast beef sandwich...

Um yeah, Marilyn Monroe did sleep with a lot of men. It was the culture back then (and today) to sleep your way to the top, despite your talent. There's actually a famous Marilyn quote from when she finally got her contract with MGM, "Thank goodness, I'll never have to suck another c*&k again!"

figgy said...

I wouldn't call this "shocking," but it IS fun to know! I love hearing what these celebs, current or past, are/were really like. It's as delicious as apple pie with cheddar cheese! ;-P

rexruther said...

Cheese and fruit do indeed complement one another. I've had cheddar apple pie. Pie's not really my thing, but i dug it. It's definitely a dated dessert, everything comes around again.

I agree with those who are all spanking, and.....? Imagine what goes on in your fantasies. And then imagine that lots of people act out their fantasies. This is not surprising in the least. Spanking is barely entry-level.

You mean to tell me Enty's had various wives and it's all been missionary? Yeah, right!

Nemesis said...

NO!!! Say it ain't so!! My mom met him when she was a little girl. He took the whole family out for lunch. She said he was a sweet man.

NovaNightly said...

Spankings and regular sex with hookers??...meh. If he's chaining himself to the heater by his balls and spraying himself with horse semen...THAT would be a freak. LOL

SusanB said...

My dad took us to his Western show at an outdoor Colosseum in Pittsburgh in the 1950s. I still remember how thrilled my sister and I were (I was about 6). He seems to have been a nice guy with *gasp* sexual urges!

Nothanksdarlin said...

Curly and gayleld, its a old school southern country thing. No idea how it started but its not abnormal for old southern men to get a slice of cheese melted on their apple pie

captivagrl said...

We would get the small roast beef sand and head to the "fixins" bar. Then we would pile up, it was like getting a free large salad. We were young and broke :)

Tru Leigh said...

Trigger's not the only thing he mounted.

Ari said...

there's on Roy Rogers here in the City near 34th St and there's another in CT, rest stop between NY and Boston, they got the best fries hehehe

AKM said...

Cheese on apple pie is amazing, and the stronger the Cheddar, the better. I think it's mostly a New England thing, from what I've heard. And IIRC, the Pie Maker and Chuck would make an apple pie for the Aunts with a Gruyère shaved over the crust. Maybe it was pear. Either way...OOOOHHH...

This RR story makes me sad. I like to think of him and Dale like I think of Paul and Joanne. (And yes, I know the rumours about THEM, too. I choose to block them out of my melon.)

All about Eve said...

@AKM, what rumors about Paul and Joanne? Can you bear to repeat them just once more?

Alicia said...

I'm never up early enough to comment on the first posts of the day without repeating what someone else has said so I'll just chime in with the faux pearl clutching.

That being said I'll add when I was little and my parents would take us to the Chinese restaraunt I would always order the Shirley Temple and my brothers would get the Roy Rodgers. I always felt I got the better end of that deal.

AKM said...

@AAEve - Oh, just that while they WERE devoted to each other and clearly stayed together until his death, he may have strayed more than just once or twice. I"ve also heard that sometimes the straying was with men, and that she may have done the same with women.

*I'D* like to think that they were perfectly faithful 100% -- remember his hamburger/steak quote? -- but even if they did this, it was their business. Maybe they had an arrangement, or maybe they figured that sex alone wasn't that big of a deal.

Or maybe they ARE just rumours. I feel kind of dirty repeating them because I love them both so much. But there you have it.

Ari said...

nice lead in Enty...loving this new writing

My CA. husband also thinks it's great. If it's southern no one in my family did it that I can recall. But then my very Californian friend asked me if I would make her savory grits. I asked what the hell are so sweet grits? she tells me that her relatives in Georgia used sugar and cinnamon on them all the time. Perhaps it's just regional. Still seems weird.

fordellcastle said...

My Grandma (who was born in 1908) loved Roy Rogers and Dale Evans when she was a younger woman. She once went to a theatre where one of his movies was premiering to see them in person. Both fell out of their car (limo? Grandma said car.) drunk as fluck. She always hated them after that.

Sherry said...

The only thing I remember about the Roy Rogers restaurant in Atlanta was falling off the horse table kids could eat at. I swear I thought it was bolted to the floor. My drinking escapades go way back.

Izzie said...

@Sherry - my CA husband used to put sugar and milk on his grits when I make them, like malt-o-meal or oatmeal. I introduced him to the delicacy that is salt, pepper, and cheese grits with your eggs, and he stopped that nasty practice.

AKM said...

Yeah, I'm kind of surprised that those GA folks would make their grits sweet. The more common practice is for us Southerners to make our grits savory, whilst Yankees tend to want to add syrup and sweet items. Huh.

Scallywag said...

Did the hookers have to say, "Howdy pardner, may I serve you?"

We still have Roy Rogers restaurants in the D.C. area. Almost went to one today, but ran out of time. Love the roast beef sandwich.

Nothanksdarlin said...

Akm, I eat my grits with butter and sugar. Delicious

nunaurbiz said...

I don't believe it. I think she mixed him up with Gene Autry, who I would believe doing something like this. People get them confused all the time and how convenient that they are dead and can't defend themselves.

Lucas said...

@AKM - I'm a Texan (East Texas, so more Southerner than Westerner) and I like my grits sweet. Cinnamon, sugar and a little butter.

AKM said...

Oh, y'all are breakin' my heart! Salt, pepper, and butter! Cheese is good, and maybe the occasional green chilies or jalapenos.

But put that sweet stuff on your oatmeal! ;-)

I have a really cute guidebook to the South at home, and there was some clever little write-up by Fannie Flagg in there, raving about the wonders of grits. I remember something about throwing them on a kitchen grease fire and using them in a pinch for litter for a (Southern, natch) cat.

In my Father's long career as a journalist for a large newspaper, he interviewed many important people. I remember things he said about different ones. Roy Rogers, he liked. Harry Truman he really liked. It came to be a very diverse group. He interviewed one man who many consider holy and had to stop to barf afterwards.

@ Everyone, I was hungover as a dog on
Vacation with a friend when I blearily watched her poor cream and add sugar to her grits(mmph) she watched in equal horror as I added butter, crumbled bacon and my viciously stabbed sunny eggs to my bowl of grits. I have never understood treating grits like Cream of Wheat...it's just wrong

old;ady, you are missed by many. Hope you are enjoying your granddaughter.

In the USA cheddar cheese and apple pie originated in New England:)

AKM said...

Yes, hi, old;ady! Hope you're doing well lately.

Agent**it, that's what I thought. I'm a Southern girl, and most folks there eat their pie plain or a la mode. I only found out about cheese on pie through my fascination with New Englad and reading YANKEE magazine and such.

Steampunk Jazz, in the words of Clairee Belcher, you were brought up right. ;-)

Worked at the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office back in the '80s. Roy was a member of the Mounted Posse (his museum was in Victorville). He came in one day and the man was tiny. I'm 5'3" and we were eye to eye (probably wearing heels - me). I have his autograph still - Roy Rogers and Trigger.

I would want proof beside Linda since after Deep Throat she became very very fundalmentalistic! She also lied about why she did deep throat was forced etc. Roy and Dale adopted many kids so I doubt he had the time to bang anyone but Dale. And who cares who he banged evenh if half of it is true which I have my doubts that any of it is true!!!
