So long, farewell, auf wiedersehen, goodbye.
ReplyDeleteSo long, Maria. Farewell. Auf weidershoen, Goodnight. I know you hate to go, but you lived this lovely life.
ReplyDeleteRest in peace
Awwwww
ReplyDeleteJinx, aaannnnnnaaannnnn
ReplyDeleteYes, I thought that it was sorta sweet. :)
ReplyDeleteShe and her family were notable to many a young girl. RIP
ReplyDeleteWhat a great movie The Sound of Music is .... just wonderful, unforgettable music.
ReplyDeleteAll right. I will admit it. I still enjoy watching The Sound of Music. Still winder about the whole Austrian navy thing. What with Austria being landlocked and all.
ReplyDelete...I thought Brigetta was the second oldest and Maria was the mother. "how do you solve a problem like Maria, hooooow do you hold a moon beam in your hand"
ReplyDeleteAll of the children's names in the play/movie were made up. Maria was coincidentally this woman's name IRL as well as her stepmother's.
DeleteOneEyeCharlie, before WW1, the Austro-Hungarian empire controlled a large hunk of northern Italy, and Trieste, most with seaports. I assume Capt Von Trapp was in the navy before and during the first WW.
ReplyDeleteThat's why there was an Austrian Navy.
In the movie she was "Louisa".
ReplyDeleteYou know, she may be the last surviving member of the original children, but she's not the last surviving member of the family. Several of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren still perform, and they still own the lodge in Vermont.
ReplyDelete@AKM, the great grandchildren are on tour with Pink Martini. They have joint album dropping next week.
DeleteWhat is it you c@nt face Maria?
ReplyDeleteRIP.
ReplyDeleteSound of Music - still my favorite movie, watch it every chance I get. Cry beginning to end, even hum a tune when I'm sad. I'm a cool cucumber, but it brings out my sentimentality (Christopher Plummer looks like the men in my family or versa versa). Glad this is an annoymous post!
ReplyDeleteIncredible life stories the Von T's.
