It is hilarious that all this attention is being paid to the engagement of these two celebrities. The guy in the relationship, who used to be A+ list cheats, literally every time his soon to be wife is out of town.

She is nothing special to him but he was always going to get married to the person he was with when he retired. Whoever it was, that's who he would propose to. She just happened to be the one. It's no more complex than that.

Agree - they are only 'engaged' which apparently means something else for him. That being said he probably will marry her so he can have some kids and have one of those types of marriages. They both get kids but he gets to mess around.
Nah, now that he's not playing anymore his sponsors want him to have the relatable "family man" image. big companies like Nike and Gatorade prefer their spokespeople to wholesome and relatable. It's why Kobe Bryant called off his divorce a while back. He would have lost way too much sponsorship money so he gave Vanessa money to stay. The only reason he was able to move past his rape trial was because he was married with children and his fixers painted the other woman as a money grubbing whore.
It was one thing for Derek jeter to be a scamp when he was the biggest name player for the biggest name team. But now if he wants to continue the post career fame and recognition and sponsorships (and he does) he has to get married, "settle down", and maintain the mainstream American appeal.
