Today's Blind Items - That Was A S**t Show

All of you know this actress. Most, if not all of you have watched something she has appeared in. If she walked up to you today, you would recognize her and probably know her name too. Why then, with all of that going for her, has she only worked once or twice in the past five years? Here's the thing, everyone is always willing to give her a chance. When producers hear her rate, they bring her in quickly. It is not that often you get to hire someone so inexpensively who has been in hit television and movies. It is only when they bring her in, they realize why she is so cheap. She is eclectic. She is always interested in making sure she stands out from everyone else. She wants the light to shine on her. She has some shyness issues to go with some anger issues to go with some rejection issues. They all spill out all over the place everywhere at once. A few years ago, she was on a show as a main cast member. It was the first time in a long time someone gave her a shot in television. She can't do the weekly grind. Sometimes producers have been willing to roll the dice on a movie because, if she can pull it off, she is still worth it. It is getting through that process that is awful. On a movie though, there is hope. On the television show, there was none. It was not awful. it was not great. It was one of those non offensive shows that pass the time in the background of your home and if everyone makes nice can last long enough on television to make everyone rich. From day one though, our B list actress had script notes and wanted to talk to the network minders. Each day became worse. The directors for each episode all wanted to quit television after working with her. Everyone talked about killing her off or finding a replacement., but the audience always loves her. She is their friend. It just got to be too much and one day, the network actually canceled the show along with a few others. The others actually got sacrificed just so it wouldn't like they were singling out this show and have her raise a fuss.

Teri Hatcher. There were several years between Superman and that housewives show. Hasn't she acknowledged being bipolar or something?

Alicia Silversone

Wait no.

Christina Applegate?

Well she, deserves more sh*t than the one who made producers cancelled the show instead of giving cast members raise.

I'll add Minnie Driver and Halle Berry to the mix

Yes@hotheat. I remember that Nicolette Sheridan did not get along with her and Terri had that ugly divorce. Coukd be Nicollette or Terri. I think Eva is too smart to act like that. .good guess Sandy.

Doesn't it have to be someone that does movies and tv? And the way this is written sounds like the person has talent, which rules out a lot of the guesses above. Not that i have one myself, mind you ;-)

Of the ones named that are TV/movies, Christina Applegate and Alicia Silverstone both have a large number of projects in the can, and lined up, for the next few years. Minnie Driver is on a hit show, so I can't imagine it is her.

Minnie Driver was my first thought.

How about Shelley Long?

Jennifer Esposito. She was on Mistresses which was cancelled. Was also lead in Samantha Who.

Courtney Cox/Cougartown

I don't think they would have considered killing Courtney Cox off of cougar town. I don't think this is someone from a comedy only show.

Tricia13 said...

@joshbaskin I agree- she was central character. First though maybe it was Christa Allen from Cougartown(worked with her once and could see it lol) but she hasn't any real film success.Maybe Kristin Johnson(The Exes)but was TV Land I think

Mary Louise-Parker?

Agree with Teri Hatcher. I spent some time with her once and she is a mess.

Not Applegate. Buddy of mine worked on SAMANTHA WHO with her and couldn't say enough nice things about her. True pro, and soldiered on even when going through cancer treatment so the cast and crew wouldn't be out of work.

Okay, I'm about halfway to assisted living with my memory, but what about that girl that got stoned on the plane and started screaming about being raped or molested? I think her son was in the back with the nanny? Why can't I think of her name??

Teri Hatcher wishes she did movies.

Selma Blair

Mila Kunis?

Eva L. said...

Yep, Teri Hatcher...She was known for always trying to get the most attention from the other Housewives cast members when making public appearances & photo shoots. She's hardly worked at all in the last few years, & was considered a friend of the audience, more than any of the others.

thx Auntie!

Thank you! Never underestimate the effect of hormones (or the lack thereof).

She's SO good on The Affair as Dominic West's sister!

She has regular work on Family Guy.

Hatcher did a few movies - Tomorrow Never Dies (007) was a big one, she was also in Straight Talk, 2 Days in the Valley, and Spy Kids.

I first read it as Julia Stiles but in the end never matched up...how someone considers Halle Berry B list tho...

That was my thought too. To me she used to be one of those actresses I'd see in something (like Cheers or even Troop Beverly Hills) and wonder "Why isn't she in more?" I hope this isn't her. What little there is to infer of her is already heartbreaking enough.

Jenna Elfman maybe-1600 Penn for the show?Or Growing Up Fisher but Penn was more ensemble
