Considered the Yoko One of Hollywood, the wife of this Oscar winning actor who knew he would win, but didn't enjoy the win so to speak cut the actor off from all friends and family. She also had him cut out all previous children from his life and estate and even had him stop paying child support.

as much i like this amazing actor..isn't reductive to say that HIS WIFE made him do it? I mean...was he a puppet?
I guess he was fairly up in age and a lifelong alcoholic by the time she got a hold of him. He was probably pretty easy to manipulate, but it's hard to imagine to those extremes. Sad.
Maybe he had a pusillanimous character.

The speech she made when she accepted the Oscar on his behalf after his death was rather interesting. It's on youtube. She said that he told her if he won, he'd want to thank her first.
