I think the Malta thing is a misunderstanding. The idea was that they'd have a few years away from the UK to start their marriage and grow their family, just like Liz and Phil had on Malta in the 1940s. (Supposedly it was one of the happiest times of their lives)
The Times used the phrase "Malta moment" to suggest that Harry and Meghan could have a few years away to recalibrate.

@Mischi....... the inheritance from Diana went straight into a trust fund administered by relatives and palace insiders. Harry was due to get it when he turned 25 but he was making such a mess of his life his aunt (one of Diana's sisters) petitioned the court to have the time frame increased a further 5years, the request was granted.
It was managed very well and when Harry turned 30 the the trust was turned over to him, the inheritance had doubled in value and he came into possession of around £40million, whether he just lives off the interest or is dipping into the principle , who knows, but he is certainly in control of the money now. However as Nutty said Charles pays most of their bills, Megs clothes, their staff etc as he does for Will and Kate.
Harry is not living at Kensington Palace, he is at Windsor, someone may have seen him there maybe picking up some of their things and he may have stayed overnight, but he is no longer living there.
On a side note I have a friend who lives quite close to the palace and has a clear view of the helipad, a twitch of the lorgnette and she can see the occupants. Interestingly it is Anne who is most often seen, the one who never seems to get flack about using helicopter flights. William comes in second.

It’s hard to believe one person can come along and cause so much turmoil in the royal family. I don’t want to give Meghan that much power. Maybe these problems have been brewing for a while and circumstances have brought them to the surface. Either way I feel the countdown to the end of this marriage is fast approaching.

He has had to clear out everything from thier old cottage there because the word is that Anne will likely be taking it as her London home while the family apartments at Buckingham Palace are being renovated. Sophie and Edward are relocating to rooms at St James Palace. Where Andrew is moving to hasn't been mentioned yet.
Most of the family have rooms at BP with the Queen for when they have events in London but as Buck Palace interiors are falling to bits it has to have expensive repairs and the family and some live in staff are being spread about all over London, for perhaps as long as 5years until rebuilding is finished.
The Queens private rooms will then be renovated (C.2025) she will probably stay at Windsor full time then but KP has also been put in the mix as her London B&B if needed , probably in Harry and Meg's newly renovated and 'rejected' 20 room fishbowl apartment or she may down size and move into one of the newly modernized apartments at BP.
Seems like the Queen has put her foot down and wants Meghan out of the way for a few years and is rearranging the furniture to prevent a return to KP for London stays. She obviously didn't take the hint when banished to Frogmore so she and her ginger handbag are being exiled long distance to figure out which side her bread is buttered on.
I don't know much about Meghan prior to Harry....Was she always interested in Africa or only professed her love of it after meeting Harry? If the later I can see a swift end to the Harkles partnership.

A little factual detour on Botswana for those who are interested:
Botswana is not a 3rd world country, but a 2nd world developing country. In fact, is one of the fastest developing countries in the world and the fastest developing country in all of the African continent, thanks to 'racist' white people.
Less than 2 generations ago there was huge famine in Botswana, it was a total shithole, ripe with corruption, like most African countries are today and have always been. 2 things changed all of that in less than a few decades: 'evil racist' white people and African politicians who decided not to be corrupt for a change. Money was not only invested into diamond mining, but thanks to the collaboration of white investors and local politicians, it was agreed that a large population would be trained to polish and cut diamonds on location (teach a man how to fish). The local politicians decided not to steal from their own, but to reinvest in their own - a novel concept.
Soon after this another influx of investors, this time from India followed.
What happened next was 'evil' capitalism:
A small but steady middle class amongst Black locals started to emerge. They were diamond polishers, cutters, traders, and miners. They started to own factories and deal in diamond trading across the world. Now these people needed 1st world luxuries, like cars, fully fitted kitchens, nicer houses. Their children needed appropriate schooling, clothes, and their workers needed lunches, medical care etc. Money makes money, and a stronger middle class needs imports. People started opening supermarkets, restaurants, builders, shippers, car repair shops, and everything else to cater to this emerging middle class, and became middle class themselves.
The government, thanks to their successful and non corrupt exports of diamonds, built roads, hospitals, schools and police stations, airports, basic infrastructure.
Free education is provided in all the country of Botswana until the age of 14 and healthcare is completely free for all.
Botswana is an example of success, which unfortunately other African nations are ignoring at their own peril.
Zimbabwe is the opposite example: thanks to 'evil racist' white farmers, Zimbabwe used to be called 'The breadbasket of Africa'. They produced so much food, they could have fed over half the continent, but thanks to the 'non racist' Black rebels, who over decades have either slaughtered or driven away white farmers, it now has famine. Real and proper famine! They confiscated 'white' farms, killed also the black farmers working there (and their families), don't know how to work the land, and aren't interested in working or learning either. What they are interested in, is stealing the charity donations stupid 'evil white' governments give them because of their publicised famine, which was completely self inflicted.
Most African countries are shitholes, not because of 'evil white racists', but because of corrupt, parasitic locals, and Botswana proves this.
Stop giving aid to to these countries. Trillions of dollars have been given to countries that still don't have any basics, it's disgusting. Their leaders sit on golden toilets and ash into diamond encrusted ashtrays, while their people starve to death. And the real racists are those who are full of excuses for Black people, applying standards of low - the lowest - expectations. Africans live on the richest continent in the world, filled with natural resources, and they have nobody to blame but themselves for their poverty. If there were more Botswanas in Africa, and less Zimbabwes, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

450K a year is a lot, but it by no means grants the lifestyle of the megarich, it is more the salary of surgeon or a top lawyer. If you have a couple of kids and a wife, it is extremely comfortable but not "never have to think of anything ever again" type money.
A 10 million USD house would require a minimum mortgage payment of 450K yearly, not to mention property taxes on said house, which in LA would be huge, around 130K a year. Harry and Meghan just aren't in that bracket. Plus you would have to pay for staff, gardeners, etc.
Charles may pay daily expenses, but he is not an extravagant man, and I am sure they on a budget from him as well.
The BRF have a lot of legacy assets, but maybe not so much liquidity. Markles would have been better off marrying a producer or financier if she wanted a life of obscene wealth

Who does one blame in this mess - Charles. for poor parenting. Someone needs to say it.
