The director was removed from the franchise after it was discovered that he attended multiple meetings with The Church in between films. Concerned about potential damage to their cash cow, the studio execs dropped him immediately, selecting a different director for the next instalment. After ingratiating himself with The Church, he was forced to leave after it was discovered he was directing an upcoming film with risqué source material that countered The Church’s teachings. The film received underwhelming reviews and box office receipts, further pushing the director to the sidelines. He continues to direct and produce the occasional film, but despite cutting ties with The Church, has never come close to the success of his earlier career.
