Anyway, he was awesome, and supposedly extremely sweet, and maintained something like a 60-year marriage and had 4 kids.
Isn't it strange how some people die within a few months of their spouses? His died last year. Same thing happened with Johnny Cash.

ReplyDeleteI've heard from two or three people that he was a very classy man who went out of his way to encourage new talent.
ReplyDeleteHe was also devoted to his wife, and helped look after his sister-in-law (Loretta Young) at the end of her life.
They don't make 'em like this anymore.
