He is amazing in action...to be honest, I don't much care for CNN usually but between AC and Dr. Gupta, I am thouroughly impressed with what they are doing over there. Covering all of the tragedy AND getting involved, that is whats its all about.
Never a fan of CNN, I only watch because of Anderson Cooper. What a guy.

I am not a fan of Cooper or Gupta but I give them huge props. Haiti is so tragic that the reporters have all become part of the story. Saw Soledad working at an orphanage last night. Gupta did neurosurgery on a 12 year old. Take THAT Dr Oz!
I saw this last night and couldn't believe it.
Anderson seems so affected by what he's witnessed - a few days ago he was reporting on the bodies that were being dumped in mass graves and was almost in tears when he said all these people will have 'disappeared,' and their families will have no idea what happened to them, as no one is keeping any records. I saw him refer to the 'disappeared' more than once. I cannot even imagine what it would be like for someone you love to 'disappear' and not know their fate. Beyond unimaginable.
LOVE COOP AND GUPTA....CNN REALLY HAD THE BEST COVERAGE....

I love how he's so great at his job, and still makes me go, "Ooh look at those muscles!!" even though I know he plays for the other team.
I was a teenager living in Miami when Hurricane Andrew hit and remember all of the looting that took place. I can't begin to imagine how horrible the situation is in Haiti right now. This video made me cry for all of those poor people. May God be with them and help them get through this.
My brother was stuck at his house in New Orleans for 11 days after Katrina. I asked him what he did for food and water. He said the looters were very generous.
I don't understand why some people do not understand that looting will happen in these situations. During the coverage of Hurricane Katrina, people were so demonized for stealing food.
It makes no sense to steal electronics and the like, but food and clothing, diapers, what do you expect?
Yes, AC gets kudos--but of COURSE he helped. It's what a human being would do. That's why "heros" always deny they are "heros". Just doing the right thing.
Wow I just have so much more respect for Anderson Cooper. I adore him and what a sad state that nation is.
for people not in the medical field, your head is very vascular so the little cut will bleed a lot. injuries like that look worse then what they are unless of course it was severe blunt trauma and not a little cut

I feel bad for the people who are just trying to survive including any would be looters.

I was also impressed with Gupta when he spent the night in that one "hospital" after all the medical staff were trucked out of there along with the supplies because there could be violence. So he simply stayed, alone, and tried to keep the people alive. Somehow until now I never thought of him as a real doctor. I apologize, he has my respect. As does Cooper - yes, head injuries bleed a lot, but that kid was clearly shaken and reeling and was unable to stand up. I'm so proud of those two guys!

@Surfer, agree completely. Making it even more tragic is the fact that Haitians put a LOT of importance on funerals and gravesites. (per the New York Times) So their long-term anguish will just be THAT much worse. *sigh*
Okay, Dr. Gupta stayed at the hospital? I'm in love.
@figgy - now I keep thinking about the "disappeared." You know, it's possible it's not only Haitians being buried, as there were so many foreigners there, many doing missionary work - Americans, Canadians, Europeans, so many people who have yet to be found.
@ surfer, hadn't thought about all the people from outside Haiti who are missing. They were burning bodies in the streets. At least in some disasters they take pictures of the bodies before they bury them.
@ sunnyside - I know. Anderson mentioned something that at least during Katrina, the coroners took pictures of people's faces, but Haiti seems to be in total chaos, with no one really in charge (except the U.S. military).
I love this guy, he gets so involved, you just know his heart breaks for the victims. I first saw his caring in Katrina. Haven't been watching CNN, been watching a Canadian channel, all the reporters are very affected by what they are witnessing.
I may be a cynic but just watched this video and it seems completely staged to me. Am i crazy?
To think there was actually a time, years ago when I didn't love Anderson Cooper. Wow! Good for him, and that other CNN correspondent who did the brain surgery.
A good friend of mine is Haitian and she also loves Anderson. You would not believe the relief in her voice when she told me Anderson was over there... it was as if she believed he could single-handedly save everyone. She'll be happy to hear that he's a true hero. I'm happy to report that my friend's father was not injured, and he is back in the US now.
AC's mother is a Vanderbilt. He could have been entitled, distant and removed but somehow ended up as a compassionate, caring, human being.

I have already donated to Haiti and will do more, so does that make me less of a bad person when I see this video and just get all mushy over Anderson Cooper? I feel kind of guilty for watching the chaos and thinking "mmm, dreamy".
does anypone have an update on this little boy? i've been searching for one but can't find anything, i'm capitivated by the human spirit that comes through in times like these.
Anderson wrote on his blog about it, and he said that he handed him off to someone and that he doesnt know what happened to him
Am I the only one thinking that he will end up adopting a Haitian kid? There was a clip on AC360 the other day of him talking about how cute all the orphans are. He was almost gushing.
I wonder if he is able to adopt a Haitian kid..
