Former Bad Boy Records Rapper Confesses To Murder
For 17 years, Trevell Coleman, lived with the knowledge he had killed someone. The rapper who was signed to a five album deal with Diddy's Bad Boy Records back in 1998 and even recorded songs with Diddy, walked into a police station last week and confessed to a murder that happened way back in 1993. Apparently the guilt was killing him so, the life long criminal confessed to police he had done it. This was a case that had long gone cold and this man could have kept the guilt inside and would never have been discovered. Instead, he just could not handle it anymore and confessed.
His lawyer said that despite the confession, his client is presumed innocent and that the case will go to a grand jury. The only hit the rapper ever had was a song called Lets Get It which was back in 2001 and featured Diddy and Black Rob.

Well, that's refreshing - a rapper who didn't brag about his crimes to improve his career.
Horrible crime but you have to give him credit for turning himself in. He could have just killed himself and then the family would have never known what had happened to their loved one. Yeah, he's a killer and deserves no "credit" but how often do you hear of someone turning themselves in for murder? Now at least the family has closure and this guy can finally pay for what he did. Sounds like he's been paying in his own mind but somehow, that's not really enough. You still got to run around for 17 yrs free and clear.

At least he as a conscious. A little tardy, but he has one.
Maybe this will finally give the victim's family some closure. I hope it does.
It would be interesting if we were privy to everyone's dark secrets. The truth is, most people who commit crimes get away with it. I think it takes a pretty self-aware person to walk into a police station and confess to committing a crime he'd have not otherwise been punished for.
He said in the NY Post that he didn't know the guy had died until he turned himself in, so technically he was only confessing to a shooting.

Well, not to take any credit away from his confession, but, lets wait to see if he stands by his confession and actually takes responsibility for his actions i.e. pleads guilty. It sounds like he's planning to fight this in court...
Never heard of that song, and I was big into hip hop back in 2001. Maybe I'd know it if I heard it?
I hope all involved find peace in their lives. Still won't bring back the deceased, but at least he is taking responsibility for his actions.
Long ago I read an interview with some French career criminal who'd killed someone in the course of a robbery; he said he thought he could shrug it off like all his other crimes, but gradually realized that when you take a person's life, you "set yourself apart from the rest of humanity." It began to prey on his mind to the point that he was relieved when he was finally caught. Sounds like this guy was going through the same thing.
