Groom Kills Self, Bride And Best Man At Wedding
In Brazil this past weekend, a man was at his wedding reception when he told the guests that he had a surprise for them. At that point, he took out a gun, shot his new wife and best man dead and then killed himself.
From initial police reports, they think the entire event was planned because of what the groom said and because he had brought his dad's gun to the wedding and placed it in his own truck. All of the guests professed shock at the incident and said the couple seemed happy. I wonder if the guy found out his new wife was cheating on him with the best man because this seems totally bizarre, especially to go through with a wedding and then kill them. I have realized after a couple of my weddings that I made a mistake, but I just went back for another helping at the buffet and helped myself to more drinks to ease the pain.

Of course it was planned and he chose the most dramatic way possible. Either they were having an affair or they had one in the past and he had recently found out.

What's strange is that when you run the article through a translator, it references the groom's Godfather, not best man.
(yeah yeah yeah, but I don't speak Portugese - for the record I used Bing translator)
There's more here than meets the eye - I'm not doubting that the groom did it, I'm thinking there's more at play here than simply a straying spouse.

This is a really tragic story though, and yeah, it does sound like he may have found out about an affair...

You would think that would have been his golden opportunity to explain to everyone there WHY he was doing it...like....these two had an affair and now they must die...bang bang and then one more bang to off himself.
Whatever the case, why not just let it go instead of ruining everyone else's lives along with his, the selfish bastard.
Merlin D Bear; the best man was the groom's Godfather and his boss. The best man was 40 and the bride and groom in their 20s.

The Portuguese word "padrinho" is the same for godfather and best man. They usually say "padrinho de casamento" which specifies it's the wedding one.

thank you Buffcv, I was going to say that in some cultures, you can have many padrinos--which basically means they are sponsors for your wedding and help you pay for certain things.

This is domestic violence of the highest order. Which makes me think they didn't cheat at all -- and they probably were actually ferociously loyal to him to the very end. When you're talking about an abusive personality, and his is the embodiement of it, no way in hell would his pride have allowed him to even go to the church, much less through with the ceremony, if he knew for sure. He was just insane -- paranoid, obsessed, suspicious, abusive.
He wanted to prove to the Best Man, that HE got her, then in a cruel twist of fate, he killed them both.

Seriously though, this story is going to haunt me for the rest of my life. I can not even imagine living through this. WTF? Geez I hope it was an adult only reception athough I don't know how much better it would make this if it was...
This is one of the worst stories I've ever heard. And yeah, I sincerely hope it was an adults only reception. Awful.
