That Great American Restaurant Show & Celebrity Apprentice

When my mom told me yesterday she was going to watch Celebrity Apprentice for the first time, I thought I would join her. I had never seen it before either and have seen enough ads for that and the restaurant show that I figured I would give it a look see. I thought my mom was watching because of David Cassidy, but it turns out she is fascinated with Lil Jon. She thinks he is funny and actually likes his music too. Who knew?!?

Lets take a second and talk about the restaurant show. Does anyone remember that show on BBC where the couples all got to have a restaurant and they closed one down each week? I loved that show. Loved it. After seeing the coming attractions for the rest of the season, it looks like this is a copy of that show. Sure, it is fast food as opposed to a sit down place, but who ever owns that other show better be getting some licensing fees or should really sue. Just saying.

Bobby Flay as a host. Hmmm. Not the greatest catch phrase. He looked stiff. The only time he perked up was when the attractive blonde made her presentation. Everyone else wanted to pass, but Bobby quickly jumped on Curtis Stone and said it is a culinary problem. Yeah, he will probably want to fix that with long, late night strategy sessions. I thought the first show was kind of boring and very sweaty. The challenges look similar to the British show, but should be interesting. I thought the best idea was the fixed calorie place or the bite sized BBQ, and the person I want to win is that woman who has Limbo. The devil and good place. Oh, and even as a straight guy, I have to say Curtis Stone is a damn good looking guy.

Celebrity Apprentice - David Cassidy is a whiner. Jose Canseco looks like he has taken drugs, Richard Hatch is an a-hole of biblical proportions and Star Jones has some very rich friends. Who had the idea to put Dionne Warwick on the cash register? I think John Rich, or Lil Jon are the best bets on the guy's side and on the women's side, I say Marlee Matlin will win. How much money do you think Russell Simmons gave?

Watched the Next Great Restaurant last night and think Limbo and the grilled cheese sandwich joint ideas were the best. I know one reader here who's gonna be PISSED her grilled cheese idea has just gone public via someone else :)

Agree Stone is good looking, but for some reason, every time I look at him I can only think of that one episode I saw of Celeb Apprentice where the opposing team talked at length about he stunk up their bathroom. It's kind of killed any possible attraction to him. Ick.

They said on Celeb Apprentice that Russell Simmons gave $5000.

I loved that BBC show too, Enty. The best part was the chef judge guy from France. Couldn't understand 90% of what he said, and even the producers knew it and subtitled him. But he was sooooooo French and picky about his food and the quality of service. Don't envision Bobby Flay with the same discernment. If it smells like money or sex, then he's all for it. He's the Donald Trump of Chefdom. No wonder they follow each other.

IMO, Bobby Flay is a prick of epic proportions. When he is on the Food Channel, I turn to another station.

I watched Celebrity Apprentice for the first time, too! I am looking forward to seeing NeNe and Star go at it :-D

Richard Hatch is a BULLY and he just pissed off a generation of baby boomer women (me included) by "belittling" David Cassidy! (I didn't know David was on the show till it came on.)

If the it is the blonde to the far right, yeah he is hot. And I am not really into blondes. I loved David Cassidy as a young pre-teen, so I would not like anyone being nasty to him. I thought Richard was back in jail anyway. Don't watch either of these shows, though.

OMG. I watched Celebrity Apprentice for the first time, too. Wendy Williams convinced me to give it a whirl. It was an hour too long for me. I'm definitely Team Lil Jon. Gary Busey has gots to go. I thought Richard should have selected him to go with him in the end. Dionne Warwick on the register was a definite bad call. Lisa Rinna or one of the young broads would have been better. You have to be mad quick to man that shit. I know from my bazillion years in retail. Peeps do not dig a line. I had a feeling the ladies would win. Seems like there's more star power on that side.

Trump Towers are hella gaudy.

I watched the restaurant show on Comcast On Demand this morning while nursing the babe. Mindless TV and breastfeeding go hand in hand, thus my current addiction to RH and JS.

I think the health wrap and grilled cheese and Indian places are intriguing. Love this Curtis Stone character. He is new to my world.

I missed the first hour of Celebrity Apprentice. I thought for sure Richard was going but as soon as Trump called David whiny, I knew he was out.

@Susan - I forgot about the Indian place! I think a casual Indian chain is a great idea.

I love the idea of the fast, casual Indian but was a little annoyed how they talked him out of it being vegetarian. It just seems so stupid to push the concept that only a vegetarian would go a place that doesn't serve meat.

I also liked limbo and the grilled cheese place ideas.

I've never seen Celebrity Apprentice (& only saw Season 1 of THE Apprentice), but my husband insisted we forgo Desperate Hoes for it. I agreed b/c I wanted to see NeNe & Gary Busey. I don't understand WHY Richard Hatch is ON the show? And yes, he is an a-hole. I look forward to more Star Jones drama.

I liked the restaurant show! Curtis Stone is HOT. My favorite concept was definitely the fixed calorie place. Great idea and much needed. I had to laugh at the cute blonde girl who had the Soup idea. "The name of my business is Soupz. I got my idea from...soup.

Another first time viewer of Celebrity Apprentice. I was channel surfing, saw it and thought why not. I found it entertaining enough that if I can remember when it's on, I'll probably watch it again.

Did not see Next Great Restaurant. Yes, Curtis Stone is quite attractive, even if he is blond.

Ol' Cranky - I agree about the vegetarian thing! But from an investor's standpoint (of whom none are vegetarian), I can understand their worry.
