Dustin Hoffman Had Cancer - Now It Is Gone

There was not a whole lot to say and Dustin Hoffman's people said even less than anything practically. They told Kneepads that Dustin Hoffman had been successfully treated for cancer. No mention of what kind of cancer or the process. No cover story for Dustin to share his story like every other actor or celebrity would. You have to love that he is keeping it to himself, but it would be nice to know what kind he had and that way people might get some hope and inspiration from the guy if they are going through it themselves.

I wonder why they even sent out a statement. I guess someone heard something and asked, and probably thought he would love to share. Dustin has never been much of a sharer. Probably not going to change considering he is 75. It is hard to believe he is 75. The guy still looks great and I feel like he could act for another 30 years.

Wasn't this a blind? I so remember reading to expect an announcement but also seem to remember that the actor was close to death. Hmmm

I love Dustin Hoffman & I wish him well during his recovery.

That blind said it was about someone that everyone found gorgeous. I don't think that fits Dustin.

The blind item was on a gorgeous actress in february but there is other BI on sick actors but Dustin Hoffman doesn't fit in any BI

I hope the best for Dustin.

I don't like the title of this bit. It just sounds glib.

He had cancer, and was very lucky to be cured by surgery alone. Without any harsh treatments.

I count my blessings each and every day, for being lucky enough to be cured by surgery alone.

Prolly just a *me* thing but felt strong enough about it to post.

And Jennifer Grey had a zit on the tip of her nose and now she doesn't. You can cure anything if you cut it off - way to give cancer patients false hope, Hoffman's P.R. people.

I haven't commented in years but still reading CDAN everyday...He was the keynote speaker when my brother graduated from Tisch NYU...his son was in the same program as my brother and they were friendly enough at the time that they sat next to each other...Dustin Hoffman's speech was about how even the most successful actors fail and they all share a bond in the profession because of rejection...it was moving even to those who aren't into film because the message could be applied anywhere since it was about keeping at something till you find your place. He was very encouraging and came off so genuine...wish the best to him.

Tiger Lilly, i'm living proof. They discovered my cancer, and it was a solid mass, lymph nodes clean, as well as all margins.

And each and every person who gets the horrid diagnosis of cancer, becomes a survivor from that second forward.

Some of us are lucky to become cancer free with surgery alone, and we realize that each and every day. And any person with cancer is always happy to hear of any victory, no matter what path you travel to get there.

I had thyroid cancer and even though I have done RAI after, it is precautionary and the cancer was considered gone after the thyroidectomy.

ooo this sounds like a blind reveal

I would guess that if he is usually a private person, he sent out a statement because he knew a tabloid was going to do a sensationalist "scoop" about his cancer and he announced it to cut them off at the pass.

Good for him if he is well, however he managed it. I wish him all the best.

Love this guy and glad he's ok. If you want to see him share, go to youtube and watch his Inside the Actor's Studio episode. Is one of my favorites.

Love him too and thrilled hes ok. Steven spielberg handled his cancer the same way 10-15 years ago-just announced he had kidney removed and felt great. Its one way to go.

I like him, he always seems like an "actor", in the business to do that instead of all the other crap. Tootsie will always be a favorite.

Could've been something as simple as a melanoma. I'm betting it's prostate considering his age. I wish him a speedy recovery and clear tests from here on out.

Tomorrow he will be 76 and is a class act. He probably wanted to keep this private, but someone found out. He is one of my favorite actors and one of the few who comes of very genuine.

I forgot to mention, Hoffamn inspired The Goodbye Girl. It was actually based on him and his first wife. Neil Simon loved the story and wrote down, but Hoffman lost the part to Richard Dryfuss.

As simple as melanoma? Might want to google melanoma.
