In what is becoming a familiar pattern for this foreign born former A+ list mostly movie actor who is now an A lister, he has cut another person out of his life. This time it is his father. Well, let me clarify. His father is in his life in name only and when it suits the actor. Our actor is not exactly known for his good works or deeds. In fact, he is probably in the top five pain in the butt actors to work with. He is a jerk and an a-hole, but is really good looking so keeps getting more chances. Our actor talks a good game about charity and how his father inspired him, but the truth is, when his dad needed him the most after an operation, our actor bailed. His dad had some work done on his brain which had a lot of side effects. Instead of getting his father the help he needs, he cut him off and the dad is now living at an old family friend’s home with no income and no way to work with his condition. Meanwhile, our actor keeps using the dad’s name as an example of how good our actor is. It is an awful situation, but our actor doesn’t care. As always, our actor always puts himself first.

You just spoke a hot truth right there! I saw him in Boston when he was filming that wretched RIPD and dude was kinda scrawny looking and he clearly spends more time on his hair than I do. Girl, bye.
My mother is a self absorbed narcissist and even when I wasn't speaking to her I was still there for her when she ended up in the hospital. That's what you do with family. Even if you're pissed at them.
wonder if Reynolds wifey felt the same? both crappy people it seems and shame on him.
that is really so sad. i could never imagine bailing on my parents no matter how succesful and famous i get, they are the ones that gave you life and brought you into this world. why do you think he did that? do you think he was dissociative? ya never know...hollywood is so different then real life.

Well, I would guess first narcissism. Then maybe sociopathic tendencies...if you've ever met a sociopath, they are a different breed. Just my just got my MA opinion. :)

..and it could very well be true, since Ryan wasnt even in Canada at the time his father passed away...and then he was coincidently 'papped' at the beach in some secluded australian isle with baby and wife...
I do not know any major actors who have had to work with this self important dumbass but I have known many crew members and a writer. HE IS AWFUL and also apparantly completely out to lunch when it comes to his own industry. I also agree that he isn't very good looking at all, when you
remove the obvious tanner, mascara and painted on abs.

Well perhaps in their case publicity advisers say pay some of family to act nice, as to remain secret keeping friends.. and watchers over the baby's m/?nanny., show up for schmooze holiday photo's after their many fails hoaxing everyone that they're all so nice and pleasant regular people.
His wife must be naive. She seems like the type to want to get married so bad that she ignores obvious signs. Either that or she just wanted to find a guy so she could be part of a "power couple". No wonder ScarJo got rid of him. No matter how much fame and/or money one has, if they're truly happy they are kind. IMO
I'm not going to judge him to harshly I don't know what's happened between the father and son to make him cut his dad off could've been a reason for it.
He may be an a-hole but I don't think Miss Lively is any better honestly.

I agree. I see nothing in him that would ever attract me and i also dont see any acting talent. Sandra Bullock made him a somebody and he better enjoy his fifteen minutes.

I really, REALLY don't want Ryan Reynolds to be a huge loser. I didn't even mind the Green Lantern movie. But the evidence is becoming insurmountable. On the bright side, this may just explain his horrific box-office karma. :)
There are instances that I would leave my parent like this (like if they were sexually abusive) but he would praise his dad, so what the heck??
It explains why he ended up with Blake though, she seems like a narcissist too.

Ditto! He let slip in some interviews, old and newest, that he had always had a hard relationship with his father, but if this scenario is true, then shame on him but also on the rest of the family, his mom and brothers for letting this happen.

Not a surprise. He has shark eyes. When his mouth smiles his eyes don't. If you've seen that How i met your mother episode with the captain smiling/not smiling you understand what I mean. James Deen (the porn guy accused of rape atm) has the same dead eyes.

As someone who spent several years being raised by a violent, abusive, alcoholic step father, years after he and my mom divorced, he was on deaths bead and asked about me... I wouldn't give him the time of day. I didn't hate him, just never wanted to see him again. So...don't be too quick to judge.
It's one thing to cut your parent off, but it's another to pretend you're a loving child. Either don't mention him ever, but give him the help he needs or just give him the help he needs, period. It's not like Ryan was going to go broke over it. What a tool.
