Quick Hits

Starter Wife Finished - Debra Messing is out of a job. The Starter Wife has been canceled by the USA network because it has basically tanked in the ratings since becoming a weekly show. It should have stayed a mini-series but people get greedy and thought they could make a buck. The last episode aired on December 12.

Catherine Hardwicke Turned Down Tons Of $ - Apparently Catherine Hardwicke would like us all to know she can't be bought. The Twilight director was offered more money than she or her family had ever seen or heard about before to direct the second installment of the series. Hardwicke though refused to compromise her artistic integrity and therefore turned the company down when they would not agree to her shooting schedule. Oh well. I understand the thing about integrity and all that, but it is Twilight. It is not going to be Oscar nominated. It is a popcorn flick. They are the films you make your money on. When you have all that stupid money then you go shoot the documentary about the African stinging beetle and how it is affecting the literacy rate of 8-12 year old boys in Chad who come from a single family home.

Bye Bye Nicollette - Nicollette Sheridan is saying goodbye to Desperate Housewives. I think she is also probably saying goodbye to a steady paycheck. The actress is getting less face time and so this is probably a good thing for the other four housewives and not such a good thing for the future endeavors of Nicollette who her rep said is looking forward to her next project. Uh huh. Hello David Spade.

"Debra Messing is out of a job."

Couldn't have happened to a nicer person.

"The actress is getting less face time and so this is probably a good thing for the other four housewives"

Um, that's a good thing for everyone!

In truth - Nic is leaving Housewives to star in a porny version of gang-bang LOVE BOAT with Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin, and maybe Rebecca Romaine Lettuce.
Produced by Joe Francis for VH1.

It's like the swinging 70s all over again! Whoo-hoo.
Oops. Did I just give away about 40 blind items?

I like Edie. She's great in the amount she's seen (2-3 minutes an episode). Now if they could only do that to Teri Hatcher (possibly the most annoying character on TV?)

I liked the Starter Wife even though they should have left it alone when the mini-series was over.

I liked Nicollete she was one of the greatest bitches in that show lol.

I might be in the minority but I liked Starter Wife. Of course it tanked in the ratings - putting it on a Friday night at 10 is not exactly the timeslot for propping up a tv show. I recorded it and watched on a Sat afternoon. Wonder what those DVR stats are or whatever that's called? (this is the same problem Lipstick Jungle had, no one watched on Friday night but lots recorded and watched later). Funny, but I thought I'd read that they had renewed for another season.

So who will be the new village tramp on DH? Wonder if Edie will be killed off by that whacko husband she has now or will the door be left open?

Just when I started to warm up to Nicollete's character she pulls the plug.

I never thought I'd say this but I may be a little sorry to see her leave the show.

Notachance, I read that he's going to try to kill her, but she's going to die in an accident while running away from him. They should've just let her suicide attempt be successful, imo.

Mooshki I thought this season brought out a tolerable side of her character?

Do you agree?

NOMD, there's just something shrill about her that makes me not want her on my screen at all.

I guess I'm in the majority because I freakin' hated The Starter Wife. It was hammy and hammy and oh did I mention, hammy? The script was awful and the acting not much better. I watched a couple before I finally couldn't stand it and said adios.

and i guess i'm in the minority because while debra messing is supposedly a raging bitch, i think she's one of the best comedic actresses in hollywood. never did get into the starter wife, tho.

Will & Grace is one of my all-time faves and I watch the DVDs when I need a laugh. I never warmed up to Starter Wife though.

ITA with the Nic comments, I thought her character was more tolerable this season. I thought her marriage to psycho guy has been interesting. She does add a little something to the show.

Mooshki Nic used to annoy me too until this season. Now like califblondy I think she's pretty interesting.

I would rather have seen Katherine go. I've never warmed up to her character and am not happy that they made her a permanent housewife.

Haven't watched DH much the last couple of seasons, but I'd rather see Susan go than Edie. But seriously, surely not another character is gonna be run down by a car on Wisteria Lane?

NOOOO.... I LOVE Edie... (I do not like Susan)...

I figured something like this was coming when TPTB took NS out of the opening credits...

But, damn, she's my favorite character on the show.

Maybe she and Mike can get together & run away together & live happily ever after! (Did I mention that I don't like Susan?)

Edie's supposed to die in a car accident (electrical fire). I read it today on Eonline but now that website keeps crashing my internet so I can't double check the story.

Excuse me if I'm not exactly feeling the whole, artistic integrity thing from Catherine Hardwicke. First of all, it's Twilight. It's a teen flick. Not exactly going to be a particularly "artistic" thing in the first place. Second of all, the first movie sucked. The book isn't amazing to start with but at least it was way better than what they did with it in the movie... so good ridance I say, let someone else have a crack and not making New Moon into complete garbage.

It might be the fact I am a coward .. it might be the fact that I have been out of work for ten years [due to health issues and now an inability to find employment].. but if I was an actress of a certain age .. they would need to drag me off the soundstage!

Good Luck Nicollette .. something tells me you are gonna need it. Work at your age is no longer a "Sure Thing."
