Alan Jackson - Nashville
Anna Kendrick looks amazing.

But I love Bruce Campbell more. The greatest.
It's a love fest because Brendan Gleeson is one of the best actors working right now.
Long time no see Bear Grylls.
Beth got Howard Stern out of the house.
I have decided that Stephen Baldwin and Corbin Bernsen need their own reality show. I think it should be one where they travel.

I agree on the Brendon Gleeson comment -- I love everything that man does

I don't think there is a "celeb" that annoys me more than Beth Stern

Coco looks so tired!

Shop smart, shop S-Mart, ya got that?

Bruce AND Brendan? Enty, you just keep hitting my faves!!!

Majik said...

fyi...though it's a really so-bad-it's-good movie, Brendan Gleeson and Oliver Platt were GOLD in Lake Placid...highly recommend it, just for those two.

Good one Tara!

Do you think Kristen Stewart is just kicking mad that Anna Kendrick is up for an Oscar and a red carpet fave, while Kristen herself always looks like a drowned cat?

RocketQueen said...

How can you NOT love Amy Ryan?

Well. I'm a little surprised Coco is so...blonde.

I effing LOVE Bear Grylls. LOVE. Even when he's dirty as hell and biting the heads off of scorpions - that, my friends, is a MAN.

I'm veering towards Lainey's assessment that Kendrick overdressed.

RIP Koenig. At the very least, Stanley Park is a beautiful place to end a life.

I don't know, I think it is extremely selfish and cruel to kill yourself in a public place. People use that park. I mean, have you seen a dead body? Not pleasant. Killing himself in private would have at least been the less selfish thing to do. Sad that his dad and family seemed so prepared for it, though.

RIP Andrew Koenig. I used to love him so much on Growing Pains. From the reaction of his friends, family and former co-stars, it sounds like a lot of people loved and supported him and it is so tragic that this happened. I'm sorry, but I kind of think E's comment above is cold and selfish.

ellapetal said...

@E there is nothing that is NOT selfish about suicide. Period. I completely understand what you're saying, though. (I really hope that didn't sound snippy...don't mean it that way at all.)That being said, my condolences to his family and loved ones. That is truly a terrible loss that no one should have to bear.

I don't know what function Anna Kendrick is attending, so I can't speak to the overdressed part, but I think she looks stunning.

His name is Bruce. And he rocks.

Why do Stephen Baldwin and Corbin Bernsen need a reality show? I feel like I'm definitely missing something there.

Coco looks so big~! What a cutie. :-)

RocketQueen said...

Yes, I've seen a dead body. My father, who killed himself as well. I just want peace for these people and comfort for his loved ones.

Wow, I wasn't expecting Bear Grylls's wife to be so...ordinary looking. Even though I find his show supremely annoying, he is one good looking man!

My day just got better!

Why, why, WHY is Burn Notice the number #1 rating show on basic cable?
Bruce Campbell.
DUH.

@majik - Don't forget the great Betty White!

I am not a fan of those shoes that Anna Paquin is wearing. Aren't those the same ones she wore to the Golden Globes? I have nothing against wearing shoes more than once, in fact, I think it is ridiculous not to, but I really don't like those shoes.

BTW, E, I hope my comment above is not too snippy...I have thought the same thing myself at times, but mental illness is very complex. Plus it just makes me so sad to think of his poor parents and and what they are going through.

Love Bruce Campbell.

People who kill themselves are beyond the point of thinking that they are hurting anyone. What useful purpose does it serve to berate someone who is so low that they took their own life for being 'selfish'? Someone who does something so drastic can't see beyond their own hurt. Also, think that maybe some here have had close family members commit suicide (I'm sorry, Rocket Queen - I lost my dad and bro as well).

MadLyb said...

On a lighter note, Anna Kendrick looks fabulous! She stole every scene in the 'Twilight' flicks (yeah, I admit to seeing them).

Saying that suicide is selfish is like saying that someone who dies of cancer is selfish. Depression is a sometimes-fatal disease that just happens to affect your brain instead of your body. People who are seriously depressed do not have rational control over their actions.

Robert said...

Having been on both sides of the situation--having friends who took their own lives, and having spent 3days unconscious because I tried to take my own--anyone who has sunk to the depths of despair and willfully destroys themselves cannot be said to be in their right mind, at all. Personally, all I could see then was my own worthlessness and the advantages for everyone else I knew if I wasn't around for them to have to "deal with" anymore; fortunately, later, the display of love so many people demonstrated helped me realize how wrong I had been. I NEVER want to be in a state of mind like that again, but I can understand the all-consuming hopelessness and the overwhelming feeling that every path leads to a dead end. I would describe the condition as emotionally oriented as opposed to rationally oriented, and "self-absorbed," as opposed to "selfish." Severe depression causes you to collapse inward until your mind and your pain are the only reality, and a powerful one.

I think Anna Kendrick looks fantastic. That dress is perfect for her.

RocketQueen- I'm so sorry about your father.

Although Koenig took his own life in the park, he did it in an area that couldn't be seen from any path -- so I assume it was in heavily wooded area. It seems to me that he wanted to end it in a beautiful place, but was considerate of others not to do it in an open public place. That being said, I too have lost friends to suicide and it hurts like hell. I feel for his family and wish them healing.

A friend of mine committed suicide about a year and half ago and it was terrible. Another friend was the person who found him and she was devastated. The last thing I thought was of his being "selfish". I felt so bad that he was in such consuming pain and just wished we could have reached him. So, RIP Andrew and condolences to his family.

On a lighter note, I'm agreeing with Lainey, Anna Kendrick's dress is a little OTT, something about it is too much BUT she looks good in it.

Anna Paquin...girl get some different shoes. She ruined some other outfit on the red carpet by wearing similar heavy looking shoes. I love her looks, but she needs to correct this!

Amy Ryan - J'adore. She's such a good actress.

Bear Gryll - how many times have I seen him eating a raw snake or drinking his piss? Yet he still looks good. Wierd. Wifey need to get rid of that denim jacket.

While I read CDaN because Enty is my favorite blogger, I also read because you are my favorite online community.

RocketQueen, sending you good thoughts. Losing a parent is a very complicated emotional loss. I know.

And to Robert, glad you're taking care and supported by good love.

Before returning to the random photos, two favorite quotes to share...

"We are here on Earth to do good to others. What the others are here for, I don't know." - W. H. Auden

I'm sorry to hear how many of you guys have lost someone to suicide. :( I cannot imagine. I can see how some people might view it as selfish....but also taking a step back to realize that when you are down to a point so low you might also be thinking that the ones that love you so would be better off without you, vs. the reality that they are really going through.

Anna K is gorg

Maybe that is a bad pic but I agree on the Bear Gyrlls comment....

CoCo has gotten big! She is a cutie.

My husband works in radio for a cluster of several stations in a mid-size market and a couple of those stations are very well respected nationally - including one that is considered to be tops in its genre. So, he gets to meet LOTS of famous people and not just musicians, but everyone from major politicians, captains of industry, sports stars, best selling authors and actors and actresses.

He has always been completely blasé about all of these people until one day he got in the car and shoved a photo in front of my face literally shouting "GUESS WHO I MET TODAY!" I saw several of the geeky guys from the stations, including my husband and one dark haired stranger. I said "Who?" and my husband flipped on the light and shoved the picture at me again. Once again I said "who?" and with a look of horror he said "BRUCE CAMPBELL!!!" Then I said "who is Bruce Campbell?" and I thought my husband was going to drive me right to the divorce court. He repeated himself a few times always getting the same response from me and then finally I had to say "I have no idea who Bruce Campbell is." I know he was thinking "what the hell have I married", but I was shown a movie, got a looong lecture and now know and appreciate Bruce Campbell.

But, I have told this story to several people and about half of them (mostly men) get that wide eyed look of excitement and awe and the other half (usually the women) give me a blank look and say "who is Bruce Campbell?"

The Beth Digger is starting to look very unhappy these days. Karma is a bitch, Howard and so is Beth.

I remember when Howard mentioned he told Paul McCartney he was walking into a disaster with Heather Mills (who he so fabulously referred to as "the Pirate") when he found out Paul was not requiring a pre-nup. I am sensing through the force that the very same thing (minus the peg leg) is brewing in Stern Land. Either he got his pre-nup but wants out before she gets more, and she's holding on with her horse teeth to make sure that doesn't happen, or he did a Paul and now realises his mistake and is making both of them miserable (see Stern marriage number one)

Too bad, loved Howard when he was with Alison, his first wife. He lost all of his everyman cred when he hooked up with this Gretchen Rossi gold digger with a short shelf life-looking piece. So trite, Howard.

Jeez, Anna Paquin is what-25?? She looks about 50 in her pics-and Botoxed, to boot.

Anna Kendrick is great, and looks great...but I bet Kristen Stewart is too busy rolling her joints with $1000 bills thanks to her Twilight earnings, and up and coming roles, to care much about competing with her!

How very sad about Andrew K. It sounds like he chose a very lonely end.

ChasingHeaven said...

Can anyone clue me in on why Beth O./Stern is hated and a bitch? I've always heard she was the sweetest person around...?

I think it's ironic to call someone who has committed suicide selfish because it's essentially most selfish to think only of yourself and how it has affected you - rather than have compassion for the immense pain the person was suffering to lead them to suicide.
