Lil' Wayne Served With Paternity Papers
While serving time for his weapons charge, Lil Wayne was served by a Missouri woman who claims her 8 year old grandchild is the child of Lil' Wayne. According to TMZ, Lil Wayne has to get tested by December 9th. Most of the time I am a little skeptical about paternity claims, but in this case since Wayne has not usually chosen to wear a party hat while having sex, I am guessing the 8 year old has a good chance of finding out that Lil' Wayne is the father.

Ugh..good grief. He has enough kids with various women as it is..gross.
Why wait until the kid is eight to find out? This always confuses me. They had no idea who the dad was until now?
And why is grandma coming forward?
Mom probably dumped the kid on her mother and the grandmother is finding it hard to support this new, unexpected addition to her family. If she truly believes Lil' Wayne is the father I don't think there is anything wrong with her requesting that he help raise the child.

@mikey I also think about that when these kind of stories come up, why now? need the money? not as proud as before? -sorry if it sounds harsh, but 8 years?-
And this guy is gross, who knows how many women out there shared a one-nighter unprotected with him. ugh.
@mikey - I'm guessing because they don't really know who the father is, but if anyone were to guess, Lil Wayne's always a possibility :)
But in all honesty, sometimes the mother simply doesn't want to have anything to do with the father, including receiving funds. Then they hit hard times and things change.
I might rather live in poverty than discover Lil' Wayne was my father.

Re Lil Wayne - he's a byproduct of both a cultural and educational bias against birth control.
Culturally, it makes him "less of a man" to use a "party hat" (ty enty for that one) - and of course, virility in reproduction is still a basic human trait...no matter what, the more genetic copies of ourselves we see the better we perceive our chance of survival as both a person and as a species.
However here's where education fails us... we're too damn Puritanical about sex, so it's never discussed as completely as it needs to be.
And woe unto anyone who tries to educate adequately about sex. They're immediately thrown to the proverbial wolves.
But that's another soapbox. Back to the original and my apologies for the digression.
Mr Man needs to man up and pay for his progeny. Period.
If you're man enough to have a child, you have to be man enough to support that child.

And to back up your mention about sex never getting discussed as it needs to be, especially here in the States, I offer this excellent slideshow from Slate that is worth going through whether your kids are still young (like mine) or you have tweens, preteens or teenagers. Attitude and open dialogue are so important, especially on this subject.

When I hear these stories I can't help but think of the opening segment to the movie "Idiocracy."

memyselfandi - the first thing that popped into my head upon reading this was, 'Idiocracy', it's a bloody documentary. Except I think it went a little light.
Why is it the very people that shouldn't be procreating are reproducing like bunnies? It makes me want to weep!
Think about the women, though. If you were from abject poverty, and you had the chance to get with a rapper or someone famous, would you use protection? Just sayin'
