BMI gave Taylor Swift the songwriter of the year award yesterday. Really? And they are proud of that? I understand her music is popular. Does not bother me. But songwriting? They sound like notes you pass at school.

I'm with you, Enty. Taylor Swift has officially reached oversaturation levels. And her writing? Come on. Impressive that she writes the songs herself but really it's the same song sung to different guitar riffs. And girl, there is something to be said for dealing with a break up like a woman and just moving on and not letting that bastard having another second of your time. Let alone writing and singing a song about him over and over and over and over.

FYI, BMI bases its awards on SALES. So when people stop buying the dreck that TS "writes," BMI will stop rewarding her.

If you analyze her songwriting from a songwriter's perspective, Taylor Swift is a really good songwriter. Good structure, good rhyming, good visualization, very hook-y. Is she a poet? Not even remotely. But the kid writes well and that's why her songs sell.
