Arbus brought such warmth and humanity to his roles. He always seemed to reach right through the screen and touch us, look right through the screen and see us, and as a result, we always felt we were really seeing him.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful talent and wonderful legacy.
What a sad loss.
He was 95!! He looked great and i always remember him in that role. Rip.
ReplyDeleteGood grief .. how old was he when he was in MASH? I thought he was about the same age as Alan Alda and all that. Wow. He was seriously young for his age.
ReplyDeleteI think MASH started in 1972, so he would have been 55 or so at the start. Interestingly he was only three years younger than Harry Morgan, who played Col Potter.
ReplyDeleteDid not know he was the husband of Diane Arbus - fascinating!
ReplyDelete"Ladies and gentlemen, take my advice; pull down your pants and slide on the ice."
