Shannon Elizabeth isn't just an actress. She's a washed-out actress. She got a few parts after American Pie, in films such as Tomcats, but she's been relegated to cameos for a decade, she was on Dancing With The Stars and she's turning 40.
There are a few people who had the guts to admit they were out of a job and completely changed careers. The guy who was the lead in The Middle-Man TV show is now a male nurse, for instance. When you are a little more delusional, you keep on thinking you're just in the middle of a dry spell and you convince yourself that if being an actor means getting paid for hosting parties, it can also mean getting paid for escorting.

I love Kevin Smith! I just picture LOTR fans as being kind of Wozniak/Smithy, with bad t-shirts.
Shannon Elizabeth was on an episode of What Not to Wear last year I think... and she was a HUGE bitch, but also weirdly prudish and awkward about being formerly known as a sex symbol. She only wanted to wear baggy, flannel construction worker looking clothes, and got a huge chip on her shoulder when they suggested she even think about buying skinny jeans or a skirt. Based on her attitude in that episode, escorting wouldn't seem like her thing.
I HATED her after that episode. What a bitch! And she kept talking about how hard it is to find flattering clothes and Stacy and Clinton were all, "Bitch are you for real? Your body is perfect!" I was just really surprised at how completely awful she was.
