Misty Upham Is Missing
August: Osage County and Django Unchained actress Misty Upham is missing and her family is convinced she is going to attempt to kill herself. They reported her missing this week after no one saw her since Sunday when she told her dad she was going to visit friends. Police say there have been four suicide calls in the past year to her home, and they also got one the day Misty disappeared, but no one was home when they got there. The family said her last words to them were that they would not have to worry about her any more. Apparently she recently changed her medications and had been acting strange. Wouldn't you want to talk to her doctor about that? If you see someone who has to take meds and when the meds are changed and they start to act erratically, that would be a big trigger for me.
Unless she's under 18, the doctor wouldn't even speak to you about it.
ReplyDeleteA. Dr/Patient...and
ReplyDeleteB. Unless there are actual physical sypmtoms of allergy, the hacks I know of say "Hunh, try it for a little while longer and if this persists..."
C. She isn't aware that this is erratic since she has a history of suicidal impulse. The new meds didn't change the Original thought patterns.
It's a day of mental problems?
ReplyDeleteWhat is the next? Britney?
Poor thing. I hope she's found safe.
ReplyDeleteWeird question; Would you get an insurance payout on death by autoeroticism? It isn't suicide, more accidental death...make a nice plot twist in a book..
ReplyDeleteI would say, if coroner ruled it accidental death, then yes ins would have to pay... unless there's an exemption for risky behavior they could use? Would they cover death by say bungee jumping or other high risk activities? Just my nickels worth...
DeleteGod I hope not. My friend died a week ago today. Suicide.
ReplyDeleteOmg so sorry bellaluna.
DeleteSorry, bella : (
DeleteI'm sorry Bellaluna. :(
ReplyDeleteIs suicide on the rise or what. We had two cops in the last few months kill themselves at the locker room of their police station, both highly regarded cops. A third guy killed himself but he was in trouble, under an internal affairs review for various criminal charges. That makes more sense, he couldn't handle the humiliation etc but the first two cops? The second cop was the PR liason for that force so he was on TV all the time, I saw him many times on TV.
ReplyDeleteMy little one told me this morning that I parked in (friend's name's) space. I told him he wasn't here anymore. He said "Is he dead?"
ReplyDeleteChildren are smarter than we think. He told me he was a good friend and listed the reasons why.
Gawd, I am morose this morning. Please forgive me.
@Bella, I've been out of town and only sporadically catching up on CDAN, so not sure if you'll see this. My heart goes out to you.
Delete4 suicide calls in a year? I hope she got it right this time.
ReplyDeleteOh Count, not now please.
Delete@LowKey and Vera - thank you. (I feel like I say that a lot here. )
ReplyDeleteI promise, I'm really a fun - loving gal with a wicked sense of humor.
:)
Sorry bella, about your friend. Rip. Yeah, it does like suicide is yhe new go to for problems now. If its a case where u may end up in jail, esp as cop, u wld rather be dead. I just dont know anymore- people worldwide seem to have such extreme reactions to anything and everything. I hope she is found safe and sound. Misty honey, go on home where people love you. Hugs.
ReplyDelete@bellaluna I took care of one of my best friends as she struggled with BPD, depression and PTSD. She bounced for months between hospitals and being under my supervision at my residence, but died from suicide a year and a half ago. I still miss her every day and I am incredibly sorry for your loss.
ReplyDeleteOh LadyH, you've got me in floods. I talked to him that morning. He was talking about stuff happening this and next month, and I just feel like if I'd gone up there or done something, ANYTHING, I could have intervened in some kind of way.
DeleteHe was a good friend.
@bellaluna: Trust me, I know how you feel. The last thing she did was call me to tell me she was sorry and that she loved me. I replay it in my head every day but I've made peace with the fact that I did everything that I could.
DeleteHe sounded like a very kind individual. I bet he was like my friend- always wanted people around and feeling everything on a deeper level. I miss her spirit, kindness, empathy, sensitivity and candor. The best we can do is continue to live in their honor and remember the good times. HeisenHugs
Bless you. I just don't know what else to say.
DeleteHis wife showed me his note. God I wish she hadn't.
I love those Heisenhugs. And all others
If someone is over 18, the family is seriously limited in what they can do for her.
ReplyDeleteGood God! Stop blaming the family, Enty. There is no way to prevent suicide if someone really wants to kill themselves. This is a hugely tragic and stressful situation for her family and friends, so fuck off.
ReplyDeleteOh, she's not Amanda or Britney, nothing to look at here. So no sympathy. Let's wait for a post on a white or gay person so the majority of you can care again.
ReplyDeleteBless your heart.
Deletepoor woman. mental instability is a real tragedy for all involved.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your friend bellaluna. That's really really tough.
ReplyDeleteOh, I hope she's found safe and sound and gets the help she needs.
ReplyDelete@Bellaluna, hugs. That's tough.
He was a really sweet man. First one to welcome me to the neighbourhood; brought me coffee and tp and pt's.
ReplyDeleteHelped me move, shared a mutual love of reading and shared books with me (we love Grisham and Baldacci) and was just an all - around good guy I would give anything to have helped.
We spend untold millions on programs like "It gets better" and programs to show people that it's OK to have HIV and not to be scared of them, which is great, I'm not saying it is wrong. However, we still have a stigma against anyone with a mental illness. If someone says they are on antidepressants we look at them like they are going to go shoot up a school.
ReplyDeleteAs an aside, our insurance policies pay out even in the event of suicide once the policy's been in effect for two years. Don't most of them?
ReplyDeleteIt's been about 20 years now since we got life insurance. Some days I fantasize about finding ways to make it look like suicide....LOL Then Mr. Kay picks up the kids and the groceries and I remember why I keep him around. :^)
Wouldn't a lawyer be aware of doctor/patient confidentiality?
