On the season finale of this long running late night show, there was a musical guest ready to perform who was going to be a "surprise." The reason they were there was because the musical act could barely stand because of being so wasted by the time the first song was performed and producers were worried there would not be a second song.

It says season finale and not series finale. Talk shows, at least in America, don't usually break down into seasons. SNL does however.

I read it twice. I guess I still read it incorrectly. I was under the impression Rihanna performed but there was a guest waiting in the wings in case she couldn't.

Sasheer Zamada (sp??) said that Rihanna was very drunk. So the surprise guest was there for her. It's in today's news somewhere. Can't remember where I read it. Maybe DListed or Celebitchy.

McCartney is a good friend of SNL. I wonder if he was on standby, although...I would think they would have made time for him.
