Today's Blind Items - The Fix Is In

Except for some tennis tournaments it really doesn't seem like there has been much of throwing games or events for quite some time. That apparently has changed. There are a group of mafia guys who have infiltrated a sport where it is tough to gauge who is trying and got beat and who is just having a bad night. This past week, in a VERY quiet manner, state and federal investigators have been searching through financial records of family members of a couple of athletes. Right now they are focusing on some bit coin transactions. The family members being investigated had never had bit coin accounts until a few weeks ago. Why would a handful of people from different families suddenly have bit coin accounts. The reasoning agents have is that it is much easier to hide money coming in and where it came from if the sender and recipient are using bit coins. Right now there are two incidents that are being looked into and a massive payout of just over a million dollars divided among these two seemingly separate families. Sure, they each have a family member involved in the same sport, but the families don't know each other. What they do have in common is they all have these bit coin accounts now and are flush with them. Were the athletes paid to throw an event and the money delivered to the family members as payment? Why was there a very last minute rush in money that was opposite where all the money had been going up until the event. This would rock the sports world.

The only sport that sound like one described is gymnastics, who just had the American Cup. But I don't see the mafia getting involved with that.

Bellator MMA fight. Kimbo Slice v. Dada 5000. Ton of money came in on Dada before the fight but Kimbo won. And the fight was a debacle.

First thing I thought of as well! I'm also pretty sure that most of those Bellator fighters just suck ass in general which brings me to this:

"who have infiltrated a sport where it is tough to gauge who is trying and got beat and who is just having a bad night."

So yeah. Bellator/UFC/all of those dumb ultimate fighting leagues.

What major sports have "events"?

Whatever it is, I don't think it's actually going to "rock the sports world" unless it involves football, baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer, or golf.

You didn't like the way Dada just eventually collapsed from exhaustion? Nothing like watching two out of shape pieces of crap completely tanked before the first round is over.

I have a hard time buying Rhoda tanked that fight considering the damage done to her jaw.

That happened to me this morning ... and I totally thought of you. It's frustrating and a let down, I commiserate. You're still rockin' a solid guess though!

I can't think of a pro athlete that would take half a million dollars to throw a game. That's not enough. Ergo, bs blind.

"There are a group"? I refuse to believe whomever writes this has a college education, much less an advanced degree.

Try refreshing before you post; some of the earlier posts quite likely will appear.

The last place Lakers beat the first place Warriors a couple of days ago. I hope it doesn't have anything to do with that.

It is a sport where players are on or off and there's no rhyme or reason.

If it's UFC or any sort of ultimate fighting thing, those guys would. They aren't banking anywhere near the kind of dough that other pro sports athletes make. An extra $500,000 could mean a million dollar pay day for most of those guys.

Thanks @just4fun for the suggestion-I LITERALLY DO refresh on every single post just b/c of this daily issue. For example, even when I DO see that 14 people have commented, & thus I KNOW that there are alot of posts sitting there, I refesh it, then open Blind ,& then hit the refresh AGAIN...and still I'll just get the 1st comment-it's crazy strange..but as i've said before,i should be so lucky if THESE are my only petty problems today.I just go with the flow on here(or lack there of it actually..lol).Sometimes i throw out my guess anyway if my page is empty, knowing that my guess has probably already been posted by another 10 minutes before & has either already been discredited or maybe even +1'd to the original poster who got it.I refrain from guessing like I used to,to avoid all the repeat answers & I haven't been on here daily anyway...I still get most of the Blinds with at least a 5-10 minutes lagtime so i just agree or disagree or comment on others' guesses now.(sorry for the dissertation).

March Madness and the NCAA basketball tournament? No reason, it's just the tournament season, these are athletes that aren't pro yet and for whom $500K would be a ton of money, and it might be easier to infiltrate than pro sports. And there would be pandemonium.

First thought was basketball, but based on earlier MMA guesses, I'll agree with the McGregor and Holm guess. If it were a single team, you would expect the families to know each other. Holm and McGregor were both favorites I believe.
