Not surprising. Though I've always thought this marriage was just an extended publicity stunt. Cruz is too ambitious and her partners always seemed to be chosen for how much publicity she could get from her relationship with them (Cruise, McConaughey etc.). If she's leaving Bardem, it's because she has her eyes on somebody who generates more publicity than him (and his career has been on a downturn the past couple of years). Wonder who it is.

They were friends from their earliest days in Spanish films. There is the old romantic movie plot-line - where the two friends say if I don't find someone by 35 why don't we simply marry each other? I always felt this was the case here. She was in sight of 40, had not found anyone and presumably had her biological clock ticking. He was happy playing the field but when a good friend wants to have a family, what is a fellow to do? So he married her, gave her two kids, kept womanizing and she no longer needs him now that she has her family.

Is it wrong of me to look at some of their early films in Spain, like "Golden Balls" and "Jamon, Jamon" (both of which are rife with spontaneous sex and infidelity) and say, "she should've seen this coming a mile away?" Because those films are basically instruction manuals for budding young horndogs.
Now how is he going to get laid? Because you know he only gets those other women because they want to be the woman Penelope's man cheated on her with. No one wants to be with him for him.
It's hard to feel bad for her when she did this to so many other women. Another "what goes around comes around". Any guy she's with from now on is going to be with her for her name and because it gets him lots of groupies that want to stick it to Penelope by getting her man.. she's better off single at this point.

He's actually pretty hot, more so than she is for women who like manly men. It's too bad that these two are breaking up though. They seem like a genuine couple.
